Expert 1143 Wellington, Florida | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Florida : Official Thread Hey Guppie... Ann did it @ Augusta. She was stiff but made it across in 7:23!! Let me tell you, you want a 70.3 PR? DO AUGUSTA!!!!! The swim is STUPID fast. Like im a "OK" swimmer, did Fla 70.3 in 44mins, Augusta? 28:28!!! Current, wetsuit and no spoting make for a lighting fast swim. I was about the same on the bike on rolling hill, 19.5mph. The run is flat and thru downtown on STREETS, No Grassland. Again, Fla 70.3 10:19 min miles, Augusta, 9:23min miles. Fla 70.3= 5hrs 57min Aug 70.3= 5hr 29min And I felt like a human at the finish and could reuse my shoes. We'll be back at Augusta next year trying to go sub 5:15. Top 5 70.3 Ann and I want to do: Augusta 70.3 Miami 70.3 Austin 70.3 Kansas 70.3 Vineman 70.3 Galveston 70.3 Hope alls well, FM |

Veteran 167 Grosse Pointe Woods, MI | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Florida : Official Thread Ran 7 miles yesterday. I am tired of running. I wanted to bike outside today, but it was too cold and windy for it to be fun. I have a half marathon a week from today, then I swear I am not running anything longer than a 10k until HIM training starts. |

Master 2301 Rogersville, Alabama | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Florida : Official Thread I'm in. Better late than never. My goals are to go sub 5 hours or BTFU. I'd like to qualify for Clearwater but historically I'd need a 4:45. That's maybe a bit out reach. |

New user 1 | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Florida : Official Thread This is my first post and my first Ironman. I have done a couple of sprint Triathlons but never an Ironman. Can a horrible swimmer hope to achieve a mile swim with only 6 months to train? I have bought the Total Immersion set of videos and lessons and started taking lessons at Foss swim center 3 weeks ago. The problem is that the two systems have very conflicting styles and advice. Any thoughts on how to go from "can barely make a quarter mile" to "over a mile" in a reasonable amount of time? |

Extreme Veteran 546 Oakland, Florida | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Florida : Official Thread Signed up yesterday for the HIM at Disney in May 2010. This will be my first HIM. The run and bike will be no problem. I have been running and biking consistently. I have not even started swimming. I am looking to possibly pay for the training plans on this site. I have done international distances several times. I know with training I will be fine with the distance maybe not fast but will be able to make the distance by May. Any thoughts on the training plans on this site? |

Veteran 244 London, England | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Florida : Official Thread I just registered for this race and am pumped - the warm swim is the only part that's concerning me at this point, so I'll probably overtrain the swim as if it were a longer distance. Starting two weeks ago, I hope, will be a big help in that. Anybody have any experience bridging for the first time from a 70.3 to a full IM in 15 weeks? I saw a plan on here that does precisely that, but in 12 weeks. Of course I can adapt and all, but can someone share their experience with me in doing this - from half to full for the first time, how your endurance held up, and how effective the short bridge plan was? Thanks, Nathan |

I just wanted to pause a moment on this statement, just because the last two are what always creates the problem during a HIM for me. |

The bike course literally goes right by my house and I work at Walt Disney World. Feel free to use me as a resource if you have questions! The swim is pretty easy, the bike is fairly flat except for one little section of the course and the run...well the run is what it is. Look forwaid to being out there with everyone! Hopefully I can finish in 6:30! Theresa |

New user 22 | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Florida : Official Thread Newbie here. Just got back from Iraq and looking for a new challenge. Just got my bike, Felt Z85, and am wanting to do the Disney HIM. Will have to wait until January to sign up to know for sure if I can take leave in May. Will be following the thread until then. I have always been a pretty good runner. You sort of have to be for the Marines, but have 0 experience on the bike and swimming. The only swimming I have done has been in training and that was all survival oriented not speed and distance. Did my first brick this morning and biked 22 and ran 4. Felt pretty good but definately not use to it. Oh well, thats what training is for. Anyhow, really excited about training for this and hopefully will see you all there. |

Extreme Veteran 434 Stuart | Subject: RE: Ironman 70.3 Florida : Official Thread I used the HIM plan from the bronze level here for My first race at Augusta. It worked out good for me. The workouts are tough but managable. If anything I would change would be the run volume. I do a half marathon in the low 1:50's and was in good run shape going into my progam so I wasnt worried about the run. Of course that ended up being my toughest leg. I will probably do the same plan but up my run volume. Esp do more bricks of 1hr or so rides the 10 mile or more runs. Any word on when this race will fill. |
