boxer - 2009-12-21 10:12 PMDude! Momo, what a sweet ride!!!! All carbon, sram, can't as for more!!!
Do you have racing wheels?
I asked Santa for a set but it ain't happening this year!!!     (getting the wetsuit, can't complain)
Thanks... my bike has been good to me.. No carbon wheels yet. but sometime soon.. hopefully before my Half Ironman in June..
Momo: I might be letting go of my race wheels before eagleman for a different set. I have the Reynolds 66mm tubulars.I'm thinking of getting a new frame, so I might get their wheels too (Planet-X).
Nice.. just let me know.. Shane are you on facebook? Do you go to downtown y? i ask because ive been posting stuff on the group i created.. trainings here and there. i have a 90 to 120 min spin session, with maybe a swim afterwards.. if you wanna come.. 0800 to 1100.. spin first swim after..
Word. Just got it. I'll be out of town tomorrow to the 28th unfortunatly, but if you do another weekend I will likely go. I try to spin one of the two days every weekend, sometimes outside, but wouldn't mind going in for a brick.

I live in eastern Canada.  Running in the snow isn't too bad.  You might get some wet feet which could cause blisters on longer runs.  Sometimes I put on a layer of vaseline as a precaution.  It's the ice you have to watch for!

...and don't eat the yellow snow...

Not really directly related to triathlon but...Question: How do you acquire friends on this site? I wanted to view some of your training logs and rather than searching through the forum it would be easiest to use the friends function. Only one problem...I have no friends! Thanks for the help.

Just seein what you guys thought about this...Hamstrings still are kind of achy.  I did some reading today which said that if you have a dull ache in the hamstring after physical exertion, to rest a few days, stretch, and ice every 2-3 hours.  When I hear rest, I think nothing that involves flexion of the knee like running, biking, or any type of weight lifting with the legs.  Do you guys think swimming would be alright just to stay active or should I be completely inactive?

Well, looking at you logs.. you have been weight training today and a few days ago.. and in your weight training there has been.. leg curls... so you aren't resting... which is something you should do.. stretch and stretch.. ice and massage would be me recommendation.. you plan on using a pull buoy while swimming?

Rest a couple days.. it wont kill you.. lol.. this is coming from someone that is just coming back from injury..

Well I never thought about using the pull buoy but that is an idea. While I am home on break I like to go down and swim with my dad just as something to do with him.  Maybe that is what I will do tomorrow just use the pull buoy.

I recently learned that hamstrings get sored in runners with a weak core. Something to consider is working out your abs and back.
Also avoid running hills (if you do) for a while.

If you go completely inactive; that would be the beginning of the end!!!! Just switch activities and if it is too bad, go see a doctor or a therapyst, but don't give up!

Hey all,
Hope everyone had a good christmas..

I have a challenge for those that are up for it..

The Challenge is cut out artificial sugar and white flour stuff for two weeks.

artifical sugar means => anything that isn't naturally sweet.. (no aspartame, fructose, suscrose, splenda, sweet and low, etc
white flour means => white flour, white rice, enriched wheat, white pasta..

I'm a fitness coach also. i issued this challenge to people i have been coaching as well. of course i got a lot of resistance.

This is day two for me.. doing this.. tougher than expected.

what say u

No artificial sweeteners? Are any sweeteners ok? I got the flour thing down already for 10 months.

I'm in. I've been thinking about cutting out gluten as well (any wheat derived product).

no artifical stuff... so if u drink tea, use honey, in lieu of sugar.. or drink it bitter.

no pre-sweetened oatmeal.. maple sryup, apple cinnamon either.. eat regular oatmeal, with honey, and fruit..

watch the cereals.. to.. lol

its gonna suck, but it will hopefully promote better choices when it comes to eating.

I'm in.  It will be trickier cooking for the family: my boys really like pasta, and are suspicious of any spaghetti that isn't pure white.

Phillipians - my wife discovered a cool trick. Don't laugh... spaghetti squash after its baked and the shredded looks and feels like spaghetti, throw some pizza spice, sauce, and cheese and its amazing. Want the recipe?

With my boys, sometimes it's more about the look (bleached white) and the texture than taste.  Yes, on the recipe, sounds good.

On another subject does anyone have a recommendation for a good bike trainer?  I thought Santa was going to get me one, but it seems she didn't take the hint, so I'll have to go out and buy my own.  I was hoping for something in the 200-300 range, but can go higher.

My hubby just got one for Christmas (apparently some of us do take the hint) and looooves it. $299, so it barely makes your cutoff, but it's really well made and very quiet.

I'm game for the white-flour-and-sugar challenge, but reserve the right to delay a day or two to get the flotsam from Christmas out of my house!!

How about the sugar on energy drinks (accelerate) and in whey protein?
Whole wheat pasta rocks!!! Barilla makes all kinds (short - long) it comes in a yellow box (versus the regular blue).
It's brown / wild rice ok?
