Lisa, i found you and sent a friend request!  Jon, there's a Jonathan Gerbode-Grant from Rhode Island holding what appear to be beers...is that you?

Also, on the orthotics question, maybe try just 20-30 minutes the first couple of runs and see how your foot feels.  If no muscle soreness, then slowly ramp up time/distance.

Yup!  Went to school at URI.

And what's this farm town stuff?  on FB?

What do you guys/gals have planned for weekend training?  I'm putting in a 1 hr 20 min bike tomorrow and 55 min run / 30 min bike on Sunday.

How do you guys plan on handling your workout through the holidays?  I'm in a bit of a pickle.  I have Christmas day through the following monday away from a pool and a bike...so my only real option is running...but then again, I'm trying to get into running slowly so I don't have all the problems I did this past season!

Want to get a snowshoe in this weekend but don't want to skip my long run Saturday. So will try for a 90 min run tomorrow than a snowshoe and bike on Sunday.

Will be home over the holiday so no problem there. I used to skip my run on Christmas day because the kids would get up so early. But now that I have Brewer, that gives me an excuse to go out for a run after all the gifts are opened.

They are even calling for a little light snow so that is always fun.

Have a great weekend all.

Nothing planned so far. PROBABLY going to do some core workouts and maybe a 20-30 min bike trainer in, or a run. The training will be on the lower priority this weekend as I'm flying to NJ for two weeks, so I need to clean up the house as it has been neglected for a bit due to finals and me feeling like crap.  Definitely will do "something" though.

Workout during the holidays - since I won't have access to a pool or my bike, run it is. So I'm bringing my warm clothes and go for a couple runs during the two weeks.   I haven't really started my real training yet, so none of this "missing workouts" will bother me at all.  I definitely will work on some stretches for my back and core though, that's the priority above anything else.

Tomorrow I am going on about an 8 mile run - and then I teach spinning for 45 minutes - add on some strength/core work

Sunday we are flying to California for Christmas!  I'll basically be running and running and running.  Some swimming too

I am racing a  5K on the 12/31 and a 5K on 1/1  and then a half marathon on Jan 23rd - and that same day I am part of a marathon relay.

So yeah lots of running!

Swim and drainer Saturday morning.  Sunday is a five-mile run. We are supposed to get some nasty weather so may have to work around that. We are not traveling for the holidays, so I am lucky in that respect.

Thanks - saw that you went to MIT?  My husband almost went their for his masters - he chose Michigan instead.  Personally, I wish he would have chosed Stanford - then we could have stayed in California where it is WARM

Holidays are great for training for me.  My husband is one of 8 kids, currently we all descend with our collective 28 children on his parents home that is no where near big enough for that volume.  So, before dessert is served I head out for a run every holiday to escape the chaos and the dessert calories!!  It is my sanity saver.

On the logs, I did well last season logging my workouts...but got a little lazy afterwards.  Will start again this weekend!

Hi to everyone and I am looking forward to getting to know you all in the coming months!Cool

Someone mentioned the Door County Tri and that they missed it last season.  It was a great day...other than very rough water that led to the swim being cut short, I think I heard there were 4 foot waves and quite a few people bailed on the swim.  It is on my list for this year.

With many of us living in the same vicinity, it might be nice to compile a list of the races everyone is planning on doing.  Might be able to get together at the races or at least chat in the days prior.  I never knew anyone who had done the races I did, so I always read the previous race reports, but we could be good resources for each other.  Any thoughts?

I did continuing education at MIT.  It was more of a summer than anything else.  Great place though.  Can't wait to go back!

That is a great idea.  I don't know which tris I am doing yet. Only thing I am for sure doing is the Boston Marathon in April.

I realize many won't know their race schedule for a while, but it could be a running list, updated as needed.  I wouldn't think it too cumbersome...could be wrong though Undecided

This is a great idea! My tentative race list for 2010:
February - Gasparilla Half Marathon, Tampa, FL - do this with a bunch of friends every year for a winter getaway
April - Abe Lincoln sprint triathlon, Petersburg, IL (pool swim, hilly bike and run course)
May - Capital City Biathlon, SpringfieldJune - Tri Shark (if I can get in), Bloomington, IL
July - Tour de Donut Bike Race , Staunton, IL (classic!!!)
July - Stoneman Sprint Triathlon, Springfield, IL (considering Olympic distance)vAugust - Railsplitter Tri, Petersburg, IL (Olympic distance)
September ???
I would like to find another June tri, maybe in the Chicago/Northern Illinois area, and there are some late season races in Mattoon, Illinois that may be on my horizon.

I have a few races so far:

I want to do the Chicago Rock n Roll 1/2 marathon in Aug if I can find a hotel downtown.

Green Bay 1/2 Marathon in May

We have a duathlon here in town in May.

Wausau has a triathlon here in Aug that will be my 11th year in a row.

In Feb there is the Badger State Games. Not sure which event I will do this year; snowshoe, CC skiing, trail run or quadrathlon.Depends on the snow.

As for my first year - all my races will be local, and I'm doing a couple charity rides/run.

IronGirl Las Vegas Triathlon - May
Lake Las Vegas Triathlon - Aug
Las Vegas Triathlon - Sept (I think I'll do a Oly if I'm feeling pretty strong!)
Santa 5K Run - Dec

Others - Pumpkinman Triathlon - Nov, Not sure, all depend on money and whatever. I'm not sure if doing 4 triathlons for first season is too much. But this would be a nice close to the season.
Rock and Roll Marathon -half-mary - I'm not sure if I want to do this, but it's not out of the question though.

ADA Charity ride, RTC Viva Bike Vegas, and MS180 (eeps, they increased the mileage...not 100% committed to this yet since it's in Nov, around the same time as Pumpkinman).

I have not yet have anything set in stone, except for ADA Charity Ride. I'll be doing a metric.
