Just finished my first beach run. Well, I had to get there first, so 3 miles of road and 3 miles of sand. No, not as "tropical" as it sounds. About 50 degrees, no sun, light rain. But I don't suppose I get any sympathy from those of you covered with snow. Finished up w/ 20min yoga.
I have a 5k or 10k (haven't decided yet) "beach dash" Feb 27.

OK, I'm back...

I'm Richard, mid 40's Clydesdale. Typical story: athletic teen/20something...life came along...caught up in work & family...couch potato. Tried to get active 2 years ago. Started resistance training & running, broke my ankle 1 year ogo..few months rest...started biking this year. Did 1st Duathlon...Trying to learn to swim...to do 1st tri this summer.

I am goal orientated. Need solid numbers or it's too easy to cheat. I am a little too obsessive for that. Run is my primary goal. Tapering for a Half marathon this Sunday. After a few days rest, back up to mileage. Winter is run time for me & when warms up a little outside, will concentrate more on bike.

Lets Go Huggies!!!

rnihill - 2010-01-31 6:54 PMAnyway, my name is Rhoda, age 35, with 2 kids (3 and 5), and work full time. I therefore tend to train at odd hours! I've been doing sprints for a couple years and did my first Oly last year. I finished but the run was not pretty. Admittedly, I was not as prepared for the run as I should have been. I'm still trying to decide what races to do this year... do I stick with sprints which I truly enjoy? Or do I try to redeem myself in the Oly?... Either way, I have time to decide and and am just trying to maintain some sort of base through the winter.
Afternoon, Rhoda,

Good to see you again,

R

billsorg - 2010-02-01 10:34 AM I'm contemplating a 1/2 Marathon on March 21st.  I'm not sure if I'll have time to ramp up my run volume that quickly, but it would certainly be the motivation I need to get my butt out on the street for some long runs.  Decisions... Decisions...

Do it...  you know you want to...  you know you need to....  C'mon - everyone's doing it....

And that is exactly how I got talked into my HIM last year.  mav said that to me and I foolishly registered.  Great experience but boy did I suffer.  Going back this year for some redemption!

OK. OK... I'll do it.  Peer pressure is a b*tch, isn't it?  I'm not sure if I can do the half Mary on 3/21... my wife reminded me that it's our daughter's birthday and I guess we're required to do some sort of party or something (who knew?).  There is a 10 mile run the following weekend, so maybe I'll do that.

Pfft, my half marathon is on Cole's birthday.  I figured it wouldn't be a problem since he still didn't know when his birthday was (gonna be 7 but is ASD).  Wouldn't you know, someone at school worked with him and he now knows that his birthday is Feb 28.  Thanks a bunch school people!

Yup, still running.

Maybe we should organize a challenge-oholics support group. Here, I'll start..... /* Stands up and waves..... "Hi, my name is Dee, and I'm a BT challenge-oholic."

*clap/clap/clap.....welcome Dee!*

I was told the first thing is admitting you have a problem.....

Wait. I don't have a *problem.* I'm just addicted to BT.

Um, so which is the bigger problem now? Being addicted to the challenges, or not admitting that I have a problem?

Oh, I'm SO confused........

D001 - 2010-01-30 5:15 PM Hugs? I'm on Team Hugs? Yeah. I'm just not picturing me involved in a group hug kinda thing.... I think I know most of the team though. So most of you understand what I mean when I say I'm not really into the touch-feelie kinda thing. (Or maybe I am, but in a different way???? LOL) And for the few people who I *don't* know..... Well, my name is Dee, and I'm addicted to the Challenge forum. My goal is going to be 28 days of PF stretches. It's NOT that I love plantar fasciitis. But I'll love it when the PF is all gone. So I'm going to use this challenge in an attempt to stomp the PF into the ground.

Group hug for Dee! OOOOOOOOO

Sparky! Been a long time since I've gotten to tase you in a challenge, since we've been on a challenge team together.

Be careful of those group hugs. They put you in close proximity to my taser collection.....

Hugs? It's just a name. Coin a new team name that incorporates "hug" if you'd like. If Yanti shows up this will definitely be her team Anyway, I figured you could anchor the chatty team
What? Are you calling me an *anchor*???????????????

Judging by your swimming logs, this may not be too far off!

Ouch.

Remember, SHE has the taser...

Yeah, good thing she's there and I'm here.
