Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Bridgeland Triathlon : Official ThreadThe race was very well run again. I hope everyone had a great time. I finished 15th in the M40-44 group at 1:17-something. I was probably top-8 or so coming off the bike but running is not my strong suit so I fell back a few spots. Swim: I think my swim was around 9:50. Could've gone faster but I just wasn't feeling it until the turn and picked it up a bit. I was amazed at how many guys from the M35-39 group that I ran into (literally and figuratively ). I know a first time OWS freaks people out but people were woefully unprepared for that swim. That lake water is disgusting as well. I don't remember it being that bad last year. T1: Average. Bike: The bike course was pretty fast. The last couple of miles were slower because the road was terrible. I was close to 24 mph average for the bike. I thought it would get crowded with 1100 people on a 14 mile course but it wasn't that bad. The police did a great job at every intersection. T2: Slow because I went to the wrong rack and then dropped my race belt while leaving T2 (wait until you hear the click next time, dummy ). Run: My run was respectable at 28:40 (8:07 pace ) but all those darn 7 minute milers catch me every time. I just don't like running fast. I can't get past that pain barrier that the top-10 guys can push past. I should get a long bike in today because I have the Syracuse 70.3 and IMFL coming up but I think I might just vegetate today. Last day of freedom before my wife and son come back from visiting the in-laws in N. Carolina. |
