Here Bill here!!!

I had my roadie set up as a tri bike and was fitted to it.

It's a perfect fit in aero, but only a near-perfect fit for long riding on the hoods. And "near-perfect" starts to be "serious suckage" within an hour of riding.

Here in Bali there is very little opportunity to train in aero. The roads are terrible, the dangerousness of the traffic is some of the worst in the world, and there are a lot of hills.

My iron race is on a flat course (B2B).

How should I try to adjust my fit (and I will have to do it myself, although I can get help from some pretty amazing world-class level triathletes who are not bike fitters)?

How much training in aero is a decent threshold for preparing for a race in which I will mostly be in aero?

Hey there Yanti baby!!!

Hmmmm - you didn't mark you road positions down I am assuming?

I am thinking it will be mainly a more forward seat position and maybe a tad higher in the seat as well.

I have never ridden aero - don't tell anyone!  I would think with your experience you will be fine either way if you get some minimal training in.

Once you dial the road in mark them down and do the same with Aero so you have it down!

Got everything marked on all the bike parts AND written down to the mm and tenth of degrees for the aero fit

Never had a roadie fit on the bike. Too late now. Pretty sure I can dial in a good road fit for myself, though, and can find some pedal piglets here to help. Oh, and I'll Still post a couple pics.

THANK YOU BILL

Too hot to ride right now...maybe I will get one in this evening.  I rented a wetsuit for next week's race.  I am going to try it out this evening at the lake.

Rode to church and back this morning.  Another stage down.  A bunch more to go.  Based on events, still waiting to get a nice ride in.

Yanti, my dear, you stretch the truth a little too much at times.  Normally when you talk of a piglet, you mean someone cute at the pool.  I am actually more of a pot bellied pig.  One that's all bristley and only cute in a "so ugly it makes you smile" sort of way.

Also, my ability to do "REALLY WELL" in triathlons is limited to races that have 7 total participants, 2 of them being the original AARP members, 3 others having NEVER done a race before, another swimming around the speed your average cabbage, and then yours truly.

She also forgot to mention that I'm sweaty and cranky.

Carry on.

BWAH HA HA! That's hilarious!

Two of my friends did China 70.3 (massive current so super fast swim times) ... and she was bragging about her swim time when the other guy said, "Well look ... theoretically ... a cabbage could have done it in 30 minutes."

BWAH HA HA!

Okay, maybe you had to be there and see the look on her face, but I needed to point out that there are circumstances in which cabbages swim pretty fast.

Great job! You gonna post a RR? Behind is fine, I like your behind oh that's not what you meant.

I have lots of catch-up, but I'm pacing myself. The dengue recovery has not gone well and of course it's my fault. I vastly underestimated the amount and type of recovery I'd need. Oh well. I've also gotten a cold from my sister (silly girl!) so I'm feeling pretty bad and lying low today.

All systems go for tomorrow, though, even if it's just a very leisurely long slow tour.

I got a free smoothie from the juice bar at the gym, and a $25 gift card for the gym, and 1 thirty minute private swim lesson.  So not too bad for an indoor tri with only 7 people.

The thing I was most happy with in that race was that I didn't have the best time in ANY of the 3 events, but had the overall fastest time, and set the "course" record.

Yeah, the smoothie was pretty nice.  Although I was shocked that some of the other people ordered virtually the most extravagant smoothie they could think of.  I mean, do you really need a 60g protein smoothie, with peanut butter, bananas, oatmeal, chocolate yogurt, and a mix of fat free and soy milk after a try-a-tri?
