Member![]() ![]() | ![]() I got the following email from Tribike Transport today in response to my question about them supporting IM Cozumel: We are hoping to finalize this very soon. The main hold-up is ensuring that the bikes are not held up in customs. Apparently, it is difficult to make arrangements to bring in and out a lot of property when it isn't personally owned by the company transporting it. Of course, we need to make sure there are no unforeseen delays during transport, before we can commit to transporting bikes. I spoke to our company owner, Marc, about this and he is hoping to have this resolved within a week or so. In the meantime, I have started a list of potential customers that are interested in using the service, so I am adding your name and email to that list. When we have an update, we will send out a notice to you. So, if you are going to Mexico and would like to use Tribike Transport, let them know. |

What these guys really need to do is get someone on the inside (an MX contact) who can grease the wheels. Aduana won't give a flying fig if the bikes get held up - they'll want their "16%" - and they won't care at all about an IM over in Cozumel. Aduana is in Benito Juarez. They don't care about Solidaridad. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() update from coz... " Road Expansion Project Continues On time for Cozumel Ironman 2011 Engineers from Grupo Jovial are reporting that the augmentation of the peripheral highway, that circles around the island of Cozumel, is now 60% completed. Cozumel has committed to have the expansion completed in time for Cozumel ironman 2011, which takes place on the 27th of November. The expansion includes 14 kilometers of additional highway, with a projected cost of nearly 140 million pesos. They were working on SUNDAY last time we were over there - I give the project about 50-50 completion. But working on a SUNDAY? that just isn't done! They must be serious about this job.

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey all. We are, what, about 12-13 weeks out! How is the training coming? I hit a few speed bumps but now I feel like I am getting back on track and my head is back in the game! For any locals...I'm curious...The weather in south florida this summer has been brutal. Insufferable. Temps in the mid to high 90s and humidity off the charts, and I like the heat. I am hoping Cozumel in November will be warm but not ridiculous?? What can you tell me about the conditions?

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi Mimir, training is going great (although I haven't been in the pool for a couple weeks....which kind of begs the question, "how can training being going great?") Same problem here in Texas with the heat...it's been really brutal...I feel like we're in a science fiction movie...no one walks outside...my dog even refuses to go out! As far as Cozumel weather, from what I remember from prior trips there at about same time of year, it's gets in the low-mid 80s in late November and is a bit humid. Main wildcard is the wind which can pick up pretty substantially in early afternoon (making windward section of bike course more "interesting"). But it's definitely nowhere near the heat/humidity that Florida or Texas are currently experiencing, so hopefully this heat training will pay off. Good luck in your training! |

Thanks for the feedback!!! low to mid 80s is brilliant! A bit humid is ok...just not to these proportions. Keep up with the good work...hope you get back in the water soon!! Can't wait for that swim!!! |

Hi "csharp1171" I remember you from last year's race!!! Yes!! the tat is awesome!!! do it do it do it Can I tell you that IM Coz is definately the best! I just finished another IM and I am not sure if it is because Cozumel was my first one but I just loved the energy in the island, the people and the race itself. I am happily jealous for all you guys doing it this year!!! I will be cheering all of you on from hot and humid south florida!! safe training....Alicia |

November is the start of Fall here and can be either the tail end of summer or not. Sometimes we have summer right into December. We should be getting cooler nights and lower humidity by then but there are no guarantees. |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Training is going well. I have just tamped up my training again after IMCDA. This week is my first week back with 2 a day workouts, so I am a bit tired. I am looking forward to this race, I really want to see how it compares to my first IM ![]() ![]() |

Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Had a great 20 mile run this weekend, getting ready for the Twin Cities Marathon in 3 weeks How is everyone's training coming? I am feeling good, been running a lot since I have the marathon coming up but adding in as much swimming and biking as I can manage at this point.

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() You guys doing 6 hr bike rides and 20 mile runs make me fee like I am hardly doing enough. I did the Lionman triathlon in Belize City (Olympic distance) on Sep 4 and on Sunday, Sep 18 I'll do the Cancun Ironman 70.3. I had a 2 month break from swimming before doing the Lionman triathlon but just started swimming again last week. On Thursday I did a 34 min swim followed by a 1 hr swim on Saturday and a 30 min swim yesterday. Apart from that, I did a 12 mile run on Friday and little over 34 and 31 mile rides Saturday and Sunday. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() We're finally cooling down a little in Texas (from avg. 106 degrees to high 90's) and humidity has been much lower. So outdoor runs and rides are starting to feel less life threatening. I need to really step up the long rides...given the heat, I've been doing 3 to 3 1/2 hour rides on trainer on weekends which is just draining away my love for cycling. Really need to get outside! |

Plus I am using the marathon as one of my big training weekends Have fun at your 70.3 |

![]() I just booked a dive trip over that weekend, staying on the bike course. I was there last year but left on IM day so only saw a couple bikers come by. This time I am looking forward to being at the finish and seeing all you guys and girls become Ironmen!!!! |
