Bib # 1152.

Got a sinking feeling when I saw my swim wave starts at 7:56am.  An hour after the pros start, meaning I will be in the afternoon sun probably 2 hours after they finish...  here's to hoping it's an unseasonably cool day!

Roger that even though I'm starting early in this race. I know how you feel...second time at Eagleman and I was in one of the later waves, starting I think almost 2 hours after the pros. I had thought at the time that I should just have set up a lounge chair with a nice drink in my hand to go with it while I watched nearly everyone else leave

P.S. my BT pic sure looks like what I would've done, but it was taken at a post century ride party.

BTW, this is a bit strange for myself...I'm David Miller and there are two other David Millers also participating. At least they're not in my AG Thank goodness for chip timing, but let's hope we don't come in too close...it'll drive the announcer crazy

The very last wave prior to the relays!!! Ugggghhh. Well, at least I will have plenty of people in front of me to draft off of on the bike

I guess we just have to look at the positive aspect of starting 2nd to last AG.  There can't be more than around 150 people left in the race to pass us, but a good 1,300 in front to shoot for.

This will be my first race with >1000 competitors, and also my first race starting so far back in the waves.  I always hear about constantly catching a "legal draft" as you weave your way through; we'll see how it goes.

Anyone have an idea of course congestion on the bike, since it's so flat? Contemplating jumping into this one for an aquabike (I'd just drop on the run, there is no official aquabike section). I'd be pushing the bike segment, so 2:15-ish isn't out of the question on this course. I'd be coming from the absolute last non-relay wave. Would hate to find it too congested to go, or worse, get into an accident because of too many people around.

Found a swimmer to form a relay team with. I have never been on a relay team, so if anyone has any tips, tricks, hints or advice, I would really appreciate it. I will be doing the bike/run segments. Anyone know how this works? Do i wait for her in transition?  Any help would be great!

Thanks,

Dan

Sorry Brigby I have no idea...

However!  Just thought I would chime in to say if you do race muncie let us know your race number.  I'll start 12 min ahead of you on the swim so my goal will be to stay ahead on the bike as long as possible... say 5-10 miles before you blow past? Cry

I have not personally done a relay with chip timing, but I believe there will be an area you wait (probably just before transition?) for your swimmer.  I think they just have to hand over the chip and that's it.

Hey guys, my posting on Twitter about Pita Pit being a great night before race meal got us a deal, the owner of Pita Pit in Muncie is giving all Athletes wearing the wristband 31% off their order the day before the race.

Just learned that the 31% off is for that Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as long as you have your athlete wristband on

Super and thanks! Might consider them for the pre-race evening meal. Usually have a turkey sub from Subway...seems to agree with me before a race. But, this looks similar so might give it a shot.

Thanks again!

I'm in too! I did the Grand Rapids 70.3 earlier this month and really got my butt kicked by the heat. I ended up missing my goal by about 15 minutes so Muncie is time for redemption. My biggest focus is going to be a successful transition from bike to run.

With my end of the list start time, I'm going to be running is some warm weather so I'm hoping to do some training at lunch time the next couple of weeks to acclimate.

Now I just have to cross my fingers and hope that my Flo wheels ship and arrive in time for the race.

Welcome! See you out there. You are another bike twin I see, among the 100s of other P2s that will be out there. I do my long runs Wednesday nights in the heat (about 86-90 here at that time) to get ready for this race. I did this race last year right before ironman Louisville, and I thought the heat was worse at Muncie

bib # 707, wave start 7:32. I am looking forward to some redemption after my first and only HIM with a time of 7:30ish, not fun. I am hoping to do around 6:00 and enjoy it this time. Good luck to everyone.

Btw I was contemplating camping. I have a hotel room, but not sure. Is anyone camping?

@Jillian - HAHA! Yeah, I'll be the guy on the P2. It shouldn't be that hard to find right???

I did 6 miles today in 95* heat. I went through my entire 20oz bottle during that time. I was going pretty strong for 4 miles and started to go downhill after that.

I'm doing IMMT in August which *should* be cooler than Muncie, but I want to be ready for anything.
