Public Service Announcement:  Be sure to check, then double check your hotel reservations, specifically the dates.  I made my reservations a few weeks ago for the Courtyard Marriott, told them I was coming for the IM and needed 3 rooms for 11/15 until 11/20.  I neglected to take a good look at the confirmations they sent me, until today when I got an email saying they were looking forward to my upcoming stay, from Dec. 15-20th!

It took me 20 minutes of my life, wasted on the phone to get it all sorted out.  Luckily they still had 3 rooms for those dates, but not the room type I wanted, and because all the "regular rate" rooms were sold out all they could get me were the special Ironman rate rooms, which are $60 more per night than the regular rate.  Wow, that's some discount they're giving us!  Yell

My plan of attack was to get the hotel reserved right away.  You can always cancel a room if you're not going to need it without being out any $$.

Great race report written up about TriSports.com founder.  Talks about his race plan execution and a bit about weather/wind.  Read it here

Does anyone know the name of the company that produces video's of IM bike courses?  It's a CA company, but thats all I remember.  Looking for a video of the bike course to train with this winter.

I'm ready to ride. It's the 26.2 mile cool down run I'm worried about.
But there's lots of quality training days between today and when I toe the line in Tempe.
Whoooo hoooooo.

I am getting the IMAZ Spinervals for Christmas.  I'm excited about "riding" the course.  I'm sure those of you with (or with access to) computrainers can also ride the course that way.

I just started to lay down some good base miles in running last week and feel like I was getting back in the groove. Today I can't walk across the kitchen without getting winded. I ended up getting hospitalized last weekend for 3 days with Pnuemonia. That is some truly nasty stuff. Antibiotics have killed the bacteria but now I'm left with all this gunk in my lungs. I realize we have a long way to go, but this is no way to start things off. I'm not even sure what kind of timeframe I am on before I can start working out again.

Be safe about starting your workouts again.  My daughter had pneumonia several years ago.  Not fun.  You've got plenty of time.

Merry Christmas, all! Stay safe in the training, take care of the pneumonia, back pulls, ankle sprains, etc...

I guess that would be Merry Texmas, y'all!

Thanks for the best wishes. Just got back from my Dr. who is also a runner and a triathlete so he knows the deal. He very specifically told me I am not to do any exercise other than walking whatsoever for two weeks. At that point I am allowed to go hit a stationary bike on level 1 for 15 minutes and then go grab a smoothie. We will reevaluate after that work out. He is being very specific about not screwing around with this. I have decided to drop my PR attempt at an early marathon and rearrange schedule from there.

Merry Christmas to everyone!  Nice to see some training starting.  I am slowly grooving back into all three disciplines.  FYI for those with Universal Sports access, looks like IMAZ 2011 will broadcast tomorrow at 6pm CST.

Training starts real soon, I'm looking forward to dialing back everything and starting fresh.  First up is a New Year's day half marathon, then Disney Marathon on Jan. 8th.  Then a week or two off and I'll be starting a HIM plan that ends in the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon in June.  Then it's a week off and the official IM plan starts for Arizona.

Sounds like you have some great races planned for 2012.  If I remember right, you are also doing REV3 Wisconsin Dells, right?

I think I'm going to pass on the Rev 3 and maybe do that new Duluth 70.3, the SuperiorMan.  The course looks to be much closer to what I need going into Arizona.

Does anyone have any experience with realRides.ca.  I spotted a teaser on the top of the page for trisports that featured 5 IM rides in a package.  The cover of the package shows IM AZ.  I googled the company and they have a 2 dvd set of the beeline course.

Here is the demo.  What do you think, which provides better prep for 'Our Race', Real rides v. Spinervals?

There's really not much to see on this bike course.  In my option you'd be better off saving the money and using it to buy and extra burrito after a long training ride, unless you have a computrainer that's going to adjust resistance for you.
