Very funny Embarassed.

FYI Team - Tim is revisiting a spill I took this past winter in my basement while I was on my trainer - I had and wanted to forget all about that LOL.

That is awesome and I am sure you are totally pumped to get on that thing.  Just don't tip it over while on the trainer Wink.

Good Evening Team.

Great News for me today. My new bike has arrived. I stopped in at the LBS this afternoon for an update on delivery and they got it late last week. I will be fitted later this week or at the start of next week. When I get it I will post a picture.

Good Evening Team.

I hope everyone had a great day.

Tim - hope you are enjoying the game.

Sarah - thanks for the advice.

Team - I have a question: I am currenlty in a recovery week and todays bike workout called for a 25 minute or 6.5 mile ride - does anyone else have short rides like these in their plans? What is the shortest ride you have in your plan during a recovery week?

Thanks Team.

Good Morning Team.

I forgot to tell everyone that since I announced my new bike is in and that I should have it by early next week I think my bike from last year is mad at me. As I went to get on it yesterday before my ride, the back tire was completely flat so I had to spend several minutes fixing it. I swapped out the tire and tube for one I had from last year. Upon closer examination of the tire it was completely worn from my trainer rides this winter. I am sure it heard it is being replaced and decided to show me who is boss. Yell

Good thing I took that bike repair class this winter.

Safe training everyone and have a great day.

Well due to an overtime game at the Hawks game last night I did not get home until 12:45am.  I was pretty happy with myself limiting my food intake to 1 hot dog, 1 italian sausage, some potato chips and a few Heineken's.  With a United Center suite it is all you can eat and drink for 4 hours so it could have been disastrous -haha   SO.... with getting to bed after 1am the alarm going off at 5:30am didn't have a chance and was easily defeated by the snooze.

Gonna swap a couple things around this week and just do my high rpm bike tonight and do my brick on Friday AM and should be good.  Looks like it is gonna be in the mid-40's/50's this weekend so it might be another 3 hour ride in the trainer in the basement Frown.  I can't deal with riding the bike in the cold.

Nice job at the game - can you clarify - what is the actual number on "a few Heinekens"?

What did you think of that Hossa hit?

Not unlike any American politician these days -on the advice of my counsel I respectfully decline to answer based upon my Fifth Amendment constitutional privilege.

That was a brutal hit - scary to not see him get up.  They say its just a concussion but it will be interesting to see what happens on Thursday night.

Hi everyone.  Sorry to be quiet the past couple days.  I managed to do the LT test last night on my bicycle trainer and came up with a LT of 165.  I've now updated my HR zones for cycling based on the calcutor and look forward to using those zones in training.  I have a logistical question: given that HR zones will be different for running than for biking, how have people found to be most effective in gauging the amount of time in different zones?  My watch can store one set of zones (just three plus 'above zone 3' and 'below zone 1') and will then give me the time spent in each zone for a particular workout.  There's no built in way to specify two different sets of HR zones.  Any thoughts/suggestions?

As for Newtons, I am a newbie both to triathlons and a relative newbie (1 half marathon completed) to running, but a friend of mine talked enough about Newton shoes and I did my own research and they just sounded like they worth trying out (especially to try to reduce knee pain).  So I got a pair a few weeks ago and am now up to 5 miles in them without too much calf discomfort (and no knee pain - yeehaw!).  I know that was my friend's only complaint with them was that he started out with too much distance and really strained his achilles and calves.  So far so good - and they look so cool !

Matt - don't worry if you are quiet for a few days.  You'll see that everyone has life issues we need to deal with and drop off for a while.

Tough to say how to handle you HR issue.  With my Garmin 405 I can differentiate between Bike and Run zones.  Does your watch have the ability to upload so you can dump the info directly into your training log?  If so then the BT training log will separate them and give you the zones based on the HR data you enter in the training log setup.

Then you can just know your zones and try to stay within them during your workout - but it is nice when you get those alerts while your working out if you are too low or too high. Hopefully that makes sense - if not let me know.

I was checking the reliability and functionality of my watch for my gel and sports drink consumption at IMWI and was putting a Heineken down every 20 minutes when the beeper went off.  Just trying to dial in my nutrition strategy Laughing  And sure enough it went off every 20 minutes so it passed.

I completed a 2500 non stop swim this evening.  Didn't think I could do it but I did.  I have come up with a new swim mantra for the beginning.  I am actually doing this.  Yes, doing an IM has been a dream of mine that I thought was never doable.

Okay, when I try to reply to an existing message it doesn't show up as a reply like how you all do it.  I must be doing something wrong.  Bear with me.

KC - thanks for the laugh today.  It brought back memories of me falling in front of my neighbors house when I first got clip pedals.  And yes I banged up my knee, luckily no one was outside.  Unlike when our neighbor fell in our driveway and he wasn't wearing a helmet.  Boy did we give him grief about not wearing a helmet and for falling.

Kathy, instead of hitting reply at the bottom, try hitting 'quote' that is at the top right corner of the post you want to respond to.

Kathy - if you hit the QUOTE button it will insert the post you are responding to.  What ever is between "[QOTE]"  and "[/QOTE]" (i mispelled quote so it wouldn't work) is inserted in the smaller text. Its just basic HTML coding so you can now say that you can write code for a website!  So if there is only a line from a long post that you are replying to you can just delete everything but that line and make sure it between the quote brackets.

Kathy -nice job on the 2500 yards.  The mental aspect is so crucial to Ironman training.  I am sure you will look back at the 2500 and wish that was all you had to do when you swim 3500 straight -haha

I actually also have my 2500Y continuous tomorrow. This is last week of base phase then I add another swim on fridays and up my average swim workout to 3000Y - not looking forward to it.
