I've always wanted a bazooka, but I haven't found the right training plan to get me there with the normal constraints of my life.  I don't think I have the time right now.

If all guns simple sputtered out a pew pew pew this world would be a more harmonious place!

Shooting an AT4 (pretty much a modern day Bazooka) has been one of the highlights of my life.

It went "BAAAAWOOOMMMM....(wait while it flies)...KABOOOOM!!!!"

203 Grenade Launcher was fun too.  "POOM!...(watch the round fly through the air)...(see the explosion...wait for it)...THUMP!"

In Camp Lejeune, on any given day, you hear "bam bam bam bam bam....thump thump thump thuthump." .50 cal HE rounds.

I was a Combat Engineer (like a Wombat Engineer, but less furry).  I used to blow stuff up for a living.  Favorite sound on a demo range is the sound of metal falling from the sky.  "zzzzzeeep"

Anyone in HR?

Not sure I want to start a whole thread on this, but rolling around in my head "what's an appropriate raise to ask for"?

Situation would be re-locating to a different state with my company, same functional area but different/expanded role. I wouldn't do it if I didn't get more money (and re-location paid for) but not sure what is appropriate to ask for (percentage-wise) or what the protocol is.

All preliminary so don't get all excited. Tongue out

Typical Corporate Limit is 15%.

Are you moving somewhere more expensive (from Kansas, I guess it's most likely more expensive where you are moving to) because then that should be factored in as well in cost-of-living change.  Good luck!

Thanks both of you!

I need to look up cost of living - it's in North Carolina but not a big metro area. Small community.

north carolina is close (ish) to me and has a lot of pretty tris and lots of good college bball!

Don't forget great beaches (Hatteras, Wilmington, Atlantic Beach) and great mountains (Boone).  I love the Carolinas.  I'll be buried in South Carolina though.  Beaufort National Cemetery, near "The Great Santini".

ra tat tat tat tat tat is normal background noise at my house (2 miles from an army base)

i liked living behind NAS pensacola much better, the background noise was the wheeeeeee CRACK of the blue angels (and assorted fighter jets) zooming around

Definitely an intriguing area! Many of the employees there have vacay homes on the Outer Banks. That just looks crazy on Google Maps.

Raleigh 70.3, Beach 2 Battleship... trust me I've already been poking around at the races out there

Let me say that the most gut-turning sound though is "Wump Wump Wump" when you're sitting in a tent in Baghdad.  That meant that someone had the cojones to fire multiple mortars and that usually means they're going to do so until someone takes them out (suicidal like).  We had that on Easter 2004.

Story for a different day, over beers.

Speaking of Beer.  Shiner Christmas Brew is saweet.  It has peaches and pecans.
