Haha...I feel your pain at #16! Yesterday I planked with wool socks on a polished hardwood floor. I went trough with it, but it was like someone constantly pulling your legs backwards while you had to compensate with yet another set of muscles to keep in position. Like the plank doesn't involve enough muscles as it is! Planking just became even worse! |

I did the rotating plank yesterday. 45 sec each turn, no rest. It wasn't as bad as I thought. next to up the time, with a rest in between. I am still not ready for the ladder. |

Master 2484 St. Louis | Subject: RE: Plank a day challenge 2015 Opps, I forgot to plank yesterday. I was busy working on a presentation last night and spaced it. So much for a plank a day for a year. I'm outta here. Just kidding :-). I'll do two tonight... |

Have you tried doing some harder variations that you are only able to hold for about 30 secs for a week, and then having a calm day then, then go for the 90 sec plus? I can recommend putting wool socks on both your feet and hands/arms on a polished floor while planking ;-) I know this thread is called a plank a day, but one occasional rest-day is probably a wise grip. I also find that not looking at the stopwatch all the time helps...it´s sometimes tempting to stop when you feel you have done enough seconds. Edited by Gnoory 2015-01-22 4:20 PM |

Extreme Veteran 1222 Tallahassee, Florida | Subject: RE: Plank a day challenge 2015 I don't know if this will help but while I'm doing a plank a day, I ONLY plank 1 min for a couple of days and then do multiple planks on days that are lighter in running or yoga or stress. So maybe if you try some days with consistently lower volume and then one day....shoot for the moon. I'm still planking at least one min a day - some days three or five 1-min planks but most days are 1-min. I really need to try to get my planks done earlier in the day vs last thing at night. Hopefully some of my major stress will go away soon (Oh please God let us sell some of the rentals) and the marathon "build" is over and I'm really going to work on my planks and crunches. And pushups. And superman. and...and...and... |

You would probably be better of with a spirit insect, like a stick insect. I think they can hold the horizontal quite a bit. Be a stick, be the stick! |

788 Across the river from Memphis, Tennessee | Subject: RE: Plank a day challenge 2015 Okay... I did my something stupid at work today. I did my first plank after my post @0815, then on the hour until lunch, then on the hour-thirty after... Like this: #17 - :60@0815 #18 - :60@0900 #19 - :60@1000 #20 - :60@1100 #21 - :60@1200 ate lunch @1230 and didn't want to start at 1300 so.... #22 - :60@1330 #23 - :60@1430 #24 - :60@1530 #25 - :60@1630 I'll be honest, the last 2 really sucked, lol... I was shaking like I did when I started! At least now I can consider myself caught up and can start some sort of routine, yet to be determined. |

Master 2484 St. Louis | Subject: RE: Plank a day challenge 2015 I did a two minute front plank today. Longest this year! Followed it with 2x one minute side planks. I was out of town last Thursday night, Friday night and this Monday night and laid a towel on the hotel floor and got a one minute front plank in to keep the streak going. |

I got behind but I'll catch up. I could feel my core being stronger when I swam yesterday. Under my protective layer of fat, there are some muscles developing! |

Oh my. The prospect of even completing this, let alone keep a full monologue going without even becoming strained or out of breath for all that time. Go Robin! |
