I also logged off and on again.

In Internet Options, on the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Delete Files button. This will delete all the files that are currently stored in your cache.

Can you confirm if Javascript is enabled in the browser? Also, if you're using something like the Earthlink toolbar, that can have it's own cache.

Another thing that would help: if you go to another site that uses Google Maps, does it show up?

OK.

That's what I thought. I did this and still no go. I am 99% sure I am all java'd up. Google maps works in other apps.

Thanks!

Hi everyone. Routes will now be displayed in whatever View they were saved in: Normal, Satellite, or Hybrid. Why? Because we like you.

This applies to new routes only, there's no way to determine this for previously saved routes, sorry.

parrj,

are you using a beta version of IE 7? With Internet Explorer, the lines are drawn by the browser using a technology called VML. I think there were some issues with this in some of the beta versions of IE 7.

to add to Freddie's point...if using Beta IE 7, download and install the latest version asap...beta's were quite buggy...I've found most everything in my world works fine with final release....including creating maps...

cheers...

I updated my IE 7.0 and it is still doing the same thing.  Not sure if I'm using a beta version or not.  Don't know how to check that.

here's a question in a completely new direction...

can we search other public maps from any user out there?  and can we add that map to our library of maps too?  Just think it would be handy for longer maps and easier on storage space on the server.  all you need to do is store one map set and have pointers to different users.  (of course i have no idea how the DB is setup nor do I need a long drawn out expl.  just whack me if I'm making it too complex

If you just updated IE, then it's not a beta. It definitely sounds like a problem with the way your computer is rendering VML.

Have you considered trying Firefox?

jsttri,

Everything you mentioned will probably be part of V2.  Definitely the first item, probably the 2nd too as it would be useful for logging races and reports.

We didn't bother to do it now as we wanted too make sure it's stable with the basic features, plus we wanted to make sure we had a lot of public maps alredy saved for the upcoming search feature.

I can try that when I get a chance.  The only thing that is confusing me is that it only does it on my laptop and not with any other computer I use.  And I pretty much have the same setup on other computers.  IE7, updates, etc...

This is more of a human error than machine error.  I clicked on a spot I didn't intend to and now I have an extra point in my route that has me biking an extra 5 miles straight through the woods.  I couldn't figure out how to delete it.  Am I missing something?  Also, is there a way to change the points once a map has been saved or am I stuck with it?

Would it be possible to make the route follow the road like it does at:

http://www.localsearchmaps.com/routeplanner/?drive=1

This is a great feature!  Thanks for adding it!

Alex,

The only way you can 'undo' a point is if you haven't saved it yet (use the 'undo' button).  If you want to modify a saved route, you will have to wait till the next upgrade as we don't support that yet.

marmadaddy, do I have to worry about any interactions with Firefox & IP loaded at the same time?  Just wondering before I do anything that I might regret

I don't think so. That's a very big, pretty complex programming project and I don't think it'd be worth the time invested. That functionality makes sense if you want driving directions, but I don't think it's as valuable here.  Our resources are limited and I don't know that the payoff in terms of additional usefulness would be worth it to all of our members.

Nope. I have them both running right now.

I'm using IE 6.0.2800.1106 and Firefox 1.5.0.4 All the other features of the website work I believe as intended, with the route planner all I get is a Grey screen as per the attached file.

It is the same in both browsers, I have cleared the caches of both and I do not use a proxy server to connect to the web.

All I can think of is that my java engine sometimes stops showing charts butas I type the charts are working on my training log.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Glenn.

Replying to my own post is poor form I know.

Wondering if it's a geographical location thing.

I live in England.

The "Go To Location" box won't work, as the Google geocoding thingy isn't supported for the UK.

You should, however, be able to navigate there directly. There are routes stored in the database from around the UK, from places like Nottinghamshire and Surrey.

I've got it sorted now, it's wierd, but sorted.

Essentially I could get nothing to display on the page at all, I tried clicking some buttons nothing happened until I clicked Auto Zoom at which point it displayed the map.

Ahh well.

I must be missing something.  When I upload a GPX file, I get a map, but the route is not highlighted, and the data is not there.  It just shows a dot where my run started.  I've tried this with several files (exported from SportTracks), all of which work on Google Earth.

To import the file, I'm going into "Routes," "Create a New Training Route," "Upload from GPX File:," I browse to the file, and then hit "Go."  It gives me a map of my location, but not the route.  Here's an example:

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=2669

I'm hoping someone can tell me I missed a step, and everything will be all right.
