My pseudonym is not really a secret.  I have said many times that I am a much too old grad student (52) at Georgia Tech; ergo a Tech Geezer.  I am also Thomas Wilson.  I find it interesting that so many people on this forum are not reluctant to let their true identity be known.  People must feel pretty safe.  It's a good thing.

Well, mine is one I use on other email. I've had it for a while. CA - for the fact I live in california. Dreamer - for the fact if we don't dream who are we anyway. And a little bit for the song "California Dreaming" which is a song I've always liked.

California Dreaming
by the Mamas and the Papas

All the leaves are brown
And the sky is grey
I've been for a walk
On a winter's day
I'd be safe and warm
If I was in L.A.
California dreaming
On such a winter's day

Stopped into a church
I passed along the way
Well, I got down on my knees
And I pretend to pray
You know the preacher likes the cold
He knows I'm gonna stay
California dreaming
On such a winter's day

All the leaves are brown
And the sky is grey
I've been for a walk
On a winter's day
If I didn't tell her
I could leave today
California dreaming
On such a winter's day
On such a winter's day
On such a winter's day

Anyway, it seems to fit pretty well.

The avatar - I found and I love it. My dream is to actually feel like that while swimming/biking/running - which I currently DON'T mostly because I need to lose serious weight.

So Nancy, I don't understand from your explanation why you mis-spelled CARPE ?   I thought you were either Crappay Diem (like have a crappy day -not the fish!) or you were a CPA and botched up the spelling of that.  Hmm.

Inquiring minds wanna know!

Oh 33 - that was my number when I played running back for the Dallas Cowboys - we won the Super bowl and I was MVP.

The 33 was also my identity code when I was a spy for the CIA.

And its also the number of the worlds tallest mountains that I summitted in 33 days.

Gawd I gotta get a better user name so I have a good story to post!

Myths and legends, that's what school was for me while trying to grow up in Mexico. A legend around the Micronesian Islands about who would be the strongest man. So this two chiefs got into one canoe sitting back to back. As they began two row to see who would determine this tug-of-war, the canoe broke in two pieces. Tagaman was the first international triathlon hosted in Saipan (just little north of Guam) and as a motto it read "who is the strongest man in the island?" "Who is Tagaman"
I got third in 1997 in my age group. And I was sure would be first last year....didn't make it to the race

My flying cow with the halo makes a reference to my spiritual salvation two years ago. It has been a very long story; in short it is "My holy cow!" sort of like to shake those pews and get people to laugh and become alive.

I've had greek mythology on my brain for years: my boat was named 'nereus', I used to use 'bachus' for a password (I love wine) and Athena 'cause I think I'm pretty smart (lot of others might disagree). But since coming to this site, it gives it a whole new meaning !! My actual name is Lisa and I'm not even greek, my parents were from Italy.

keepitup - Since you are from Kingston, I would recommend a shipwreck for an avatar. There's a really cool side paddle wheel wreck called the Comet that is an amazing wreck. http://www.scubaq.ca/ontarioscubadiving/comet.htm

Lara_SD - Please bring back the shark!!!! THe pythons were cool too, but sharks are the most amazing creatures on the face of the planet. Well, them and my labrador. One keeps me in awe of nature and the other just cracks me up nonstop.

I am so glad I asked! I have learnt more about the poster family in one thread than I have in the 2 months I have been here! However I must get a goldfish avatar as I cannot remember everyone's real name - you're all your pseudonym to me! And I like it - genderless and meaningful. How can you ever have misread Zagagirl?? And isn't it interesting that a lot of people have other interests that are a bit left of centre - motorbike racers, pilots, white water rafters etc etc. Can I just say I am not one of them?! Heights terrify me almost as much as open water ;-) Dx

For some reason I always read ur name as "yellow carrot" , thinking it had something to do with GOLD as in carat!

I don't know what that means.

Gary

PS - I think I remember you from my Moscow days in the Agency! Gawd I miss the Cold War.

Mines dull

Mike is for my name – the NH is for New Hampshire where I now live and the E is for exile.

I was known as New Hampshire Exile on some boards that I use but as I am a mod/owner of some I can’t leave my name logged in all the time for security so I’d have to type New Hampshire Exile every time I went onto the boards. Got bored with that so changed to NHE.

SO its mikenhe.

Hello - hello – anyone still awake out there? Hello…..

(Lincs guy - -you should have gone for something Impish. PS – you know Nettleham at all?)

um....well...

I got nuthin...

no imaginative nicknames...last name smith, so all through my youth, the obvious nickname is 'smitty'...so nobody took the time to develop a 'cool' nickname (like 'rib eye', or 'porterhouse'...definitely not 'coco')...as I grow (rapidly) older, 'smitty' becomes less and less appropriate...so I got nuthin's

oops, sorry, did that tear stain my post???

Very boring. I've used Sue7013 for years. Sue is my first name and 7013 was my beeper number when I was a resident. It has become almost a habit and its easy to remember. Also its never taken as a user name.

Most people think mine is about my size. Although that would definitely fit, it actually comes from an old high school prank. Me and a couple of friends were caught trying to steal the "Bigboy" statue from the outside of a local Shoney's bigboy Restraunt. Luckily the manager had teenagers of his own and showed us some mercy by not pressing charges. The kids starting calling my "Bigboy" the next Monday at school and I guess it kind of stuck.

It is my super hero name. Derived from powers I posessed while wearing a particular pair of red capri pants (which I fit into again thanks to tri training!). Don't worry, now that I am an engaged woman, I put a block on everyone but Derreck.....

The girlfriends and I got tired of our "spice girl" names (I was rock hammer spice).

Joe - I always think of your name as a nickel mining company out of Canada (INCO)....

As a teenager I spent a summer or 2 with the nickname Barbie after applying a little bit too much "Touch of Sun" to my hair. The name Barbie reminds me of being young, fun, energetic, etc.

The name TriBarbie just makes me feel young and energetic again. It also inspires me to keep working to lose the 50 lbs and look as great as I feel.
