I think the real problem isn't 'marriage' its that people aren't naturally monogamous anyway... marriage is this artificial thing created to control people that doesn't really work.

thats one of the most depressing thigns Ive ever read...

Why? If we get rid of marriage then we can just.... um, have cheesecake with interesting people. Um. Not that I've had cheesecake recently.... LOL

Its not that particularly hard to find cheesecake, but GOOD cheesecake is a different challenge.

May I remind you that I currently live in the Bible Belt.... (And did I mention before that I need to move?)

That's why I'm glad I left. The South is pretty much brimming over with religious fanaticism outside of the large cities and Florida south of Orlando.

I just need to figure out where I want to move next.....

Moving isn't an option for me right now. So I try not to dwell on the woulda, coulda, shouldas. That's not productive thinking and only brings me down.

Well, it sounds like you have access to a pool, anyway. That's a plus.

(The pool here was really cloudy yesterday. That's a minus. They have filter problems, but they keep saying that "people sweat in the water" which makes it salty and smelly....)

The US pretty much has run out of good places to live that aren't either a) overpriced or b) overcrowded or c) both that are also warm.

Florida is SO gross, unfortunately. It used to be a beautiful place to live... no more.

Move to an island in the Caribbean.

Yes, that's what *I* told them.

They replied, "The pool is warm. People don't shower before they get in, then they sweat when they swim. So it gets cloudy and salty."

Say what? When I challenged them on it, they told me that "the chemicals are fine. We check them twice a day."

*sigh*

It was really salty, cloudy and stinky yesterday.... Yuk.

Agreed...I've been lurking cause I got nothing to add to the conversation. But I can toss in a happy voice!

I have enough calories for ice cream! WHOO WHOO.

And for a wee bit of substance...I don't have little toenails. Apparently its hereditary, because Younger Monkey also doesn't have little toenails. Elder Monkey has adorable little pinky toenails. That is all.
