amyro1234 - 2008-09-08 4:33 PM No. I'm closer to southern OH. I have no idea where Niles/Cortlans are, but I'm sure they have some greak 5Ks too

Mid distance from Cleveland and Pittsburg airports, closer to Akron but what flights ever land there?

I do the rhyming thing...

1 (1st lap), sun (2nd lap and 100 yds)
2 (3rd lap), shoe (4th lap and 200 yds)...and so on...

Never fails...

What if you're stuck in a 25yd pool... or a 10yd?

End of Sept the 25yd pool closes and my choice is shelling out $145/month or swimming in 10yds.  The $145 includes unlimited free babysitting of one kid so I MIGHT go for it and make use while older child is in preschool.

How did you come up with sun and shoe?

Uh...they rhyme...sun rhymes with 1, shoe rhymes with 2, more clean rhymes with 14...

Ya gotta get creative in the teens, but then again, you'll never lose count...

Yeah, I started training in the 10yd pool last spring, but then it was all i could do to get 200 yrds done so while it was painful, it was doable.

I guess my other option is to drop swimming from the training until next spring...

I am still breathing, but my wife says that there is a particular odor that makes it hard for her to breathe,  lets see 93 pullups, 155 pushups, 248 squats, 3.24 mile run and 104 degrees....hmmm.  Wonder what she is talking about?

Have you looked into resitance swimming bands?

I've never tried them, but wondered if it would be an option...

I think of things that start with a letter of the alphabet for the lap.  Each lap starts with a new letter of the alphabet in order.

Lap 1 = "A": alphabets, apples, aardvark...

Lap 2 = "B": beta, bluebell, bluegill, ..

Huh? You're trying to count laps?

I just do odd numbers on the way up. And even numbers on the way back.

And if I get "lost," I reset myself to the lowest number that I remember. (It's good motivation to keep track. Otherwise, I'm constantly on lap #1.)

If there are lane lines, you could always move one away from the rest after a certain number of laps. (And then hope that no one pushes them back together.)

Or, you could just get one of those Lap Counter thingys, like the one from Finis: "Finis Lap Track - Underwater Lap Counter & Timer"

I find I can think about almost anything when I swim EXCEPT anything with numbers.

The minute I start thinking something like, "How many days until ____?" --> Poof! The lap count is gone.
