Aikidoman - 2009-05-04 3:46 PM My company gave me a new Treo phone...  I'm not sure how I feel about that....

Wait, they're making you cut down to 3 days a week, but have the cash to give you a new phone?

I know, right?  I think they don't want me here, but they want me "on call".  I'm sort of pizzed about that.

Well, if they call you to do something BEYOND your 3 days of work, you'd better make them pay you extra for that.

Try Boulder, Co. It's got just enough winter to make playing in snow fun. Not super hot in the summer. Trendy but in an echo friendly way. And its the fittest palces on the planet!

Want warm and no hill, try Tampa Bay. Not to "southern like". We are kinda south of the south (if that makes sense).

Um...no. A boyfriend yes, but not a dbag.

get them to clarify how that will work...  and such... like if you come in on an off day do you take a different one off?  get paid per diem?  etc.

just ask the question.  let them know it's for clarity's sake.

FL is not the South... just a bunch of yankees looking for a warm place to die.

We'll see - I'd like to stay somewhere populated enough that I don't have to go a million miles to find other stuff - parts of the West would be too spread otu for me, I think. I kinda like the East Coast in that everything is here, and you can drive to most stuff from here I dunno.

Urban FL is that way... outside the city limits, all bets are off.  Just like the metro/suburb atlanta area.

bcart1991 - 2009-05-04 3:19 PM Yes, I'm quite sneaky. Wow, dead TAN is dead.

I am trying to figure out what to do with myself. Not loving my church group anymore, haven't had a relationship in 2.5 years, my job is just "meh". Things are getting stagnant. But I don't know where I'd go. Boston is too cold, Cali is too wacky and too expensive, the South is gross and too conservative (sorry) and the Midwest is too uncultured (and also too conservative). I like DC, but I think I need a change.

depends on where  you live in the south...

Nope, sadly I do not fall into the median income bracket for triathletes. It's really the only thing I spend money on, since I rarely go out and don't have a boyfriend.

It's clear...  I had a talk this morning.  I can sort of come and go as I want as long as I get in 24 hours.  The phone is a tool to check to see if I'm needed while I'm gone.

But I tend to be a accomidating person, so I feel like I will feel obligated to keep coming in at the littlest thing.  I will have to work out a balance.

I am right there with you. Terri was a teacher and I am a detective for the Sheriff's department. Not exactly upper income careers! The biggest check I've written was for my bike!

yeah, I have degrees in musical theatre and literature. I'm not exactly going to command a high salary at any point in my life. I was laid off from my job in January, so my current job is sort of a dead-end thing, unless they decide to give me more challenging things to do - but I think that there's not much that I can do for them along that vein, since I don't know the industry. I don't plan on staying here forever - just riding out the economic situation - will probably get through this year and then start looking again.
