After a few tries I managed to get in touch with Mike.  He was really surprised that his online friends would wonder that he wasn't around anymore.  Silly boy.

It turns out that his new job blocks BT...the filter thinks that the site has adult content.  He doesn't have internet at home currently.  Plus life is just insanely busy.

Summing up...He hasn't made it to any races or gotten in much training...triathlon training that is.  He is currently training for swat team certification.  He is also trying to finish up his degree...and he has his own contracting/building company.

The call was lost after a couple of minutes and I was unable to get through when I tried again.

I passed everyone's hellos.  He was very touched that people he had chatted with online would notice he was absent and take time to look into it.

Hopefully he will turn up again before too long... the IT guys at work are suppose to be fixing the overly sensitive child-safe internet filter.

Thanks for checking up on Mike, Mel.  It's always a worry when someone disappears with no notice.  Good to know he's okay, just busy and blocked.

Hi NIBBS!!!!
I know... I haven't been around much lately... life has been crazy, as I'm sure many of you experience as well...
I've been trying to train, but it has been hit and miss...
Work is a borderline catastrophe.  I'd bet I'm behind on at least 3 different large tasks that are all of upmost importance (like internet updating).  I'm also trying to get ready for a full-day children's camp that starts 6/15.  And as that this is my first year and the economy is in the dumpster, I am extremely concerned about the budget for it.
HomeLife has presented it's own challenges. My 6yo finished kindergarten at the public school (and I somehow managed to refrain from telling the administration there where to shove it) and now he comes to work with me everyday - yeah, that wiped out a TON of my training (esp early morning masters).  We're also trying to get our garden going... and it's not going well
Training Life.... see above explanation of 6yo coming to work with me. Combined with above about garden.
Somehow, someway, I am trying to pull it all back together to get my training on track.  Though after yesterdays event, I feel kind of undirected as that I don't have another race until Aug 22nd

Hope to catch-up with everyone over the next week or two!!!!

Way cool... I had checked to see if maybe he had at least gotten to do St Anthony's (though I guess he did have to work) and logged it by chance... but no such luck.

Glad to see that he's doing well and has just been a victim to IS and not something worse

I had never seen either one of them, so it was fun.  Nice and light, and I'm always a sucker for musicals.

Read you log.  Great ride.  I forgot my computer on my bike and that sure makes it hard to keep up a good pace without one.  I kept watching the scenery.  Our first SAG wasn't until mile 31.  then the second was at mile 49.  Way too far to go without SAG stops and neither one had restroom facilities.  So, I made an extra stop at a gas station and begged the guys to let me use their restroom.  They let me, but turned everyone else down.  This was the first time this event was run, so they have a lot to learn regarding running and staging a ride.  It was all for a good cause though.  The entry fee was 20 plus cans of food items to go to the local food bank.

Surprised that they didn't create stops at parks with restrooms.  Though I suppose if there was no cash entry fee, it made the budget pretty sparse.  We may have gone right at or a little over twenty miles between the "mid-morning snack" stop and lunch, but they still had plenty of support vehicles on the road, so that kind of made up for it.
Can't imagine how I mentally would have made it without having my computer to play "training" games with.  I can only focus on the white line for so long

Great movie!  I really liked it.  I especially found it cool that they played the beginning of a Collective Soul tune during one of the scenes!

So, maybe for the music alone the movie would be worth seeing.  It's not on my list either.  Read the first book and was not impressed so I haven't read any of the others.
