I am toying with the idea of getting my degree, but then again, I think that if I want to retire in about 5 or 6 years why would I want to put myself through that stress. But I figure I need to find out more about it before I make any decisions.
That is exciting! Even just contemplating it is cool. |

With everything else that goes on in my life I don't have a whole lot of time left for school. Look at how much "free time" you have in your week, and keep in mind that classes will cost you 12-18 hours a week, per class. It is time well spent, though. You will be so proud when you get it done! |

With the little free time thing - Keri's basketball season is over. Caleb has a game an hour away at 2:00 on Saturday, Keri's team plays at 5:00. She wants us to stay, so she can sit on the bench with her team. I don't know what to do. |

Sadly, it happens all the time. This was just bigger than normal and closer to home. Heck, we are doing worse things to 3rd world countries just so we can have disposable diapers and silverware (and other crap). The feds have loosened, and are trying to further reduce hazardous material regulations here as well. In addition, there are tons of really hazardous materials that have no regulations at all because of lobbies (oil and gas chemicals, mining, electric energy waste). In the name of "creating jobs" and "increasing bushiness' the people who live and work in this country are being subjected to more and more of this.. It is sad, because it really doesn't have to be one or the other. We in this country are just pig headed, think we know everything and are greedy. We pay no attention to thriving countries with lots of jobs, cleaner environments (and better education and over all health) calling them SOCIALIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To quote Forrest Gump, " That is all I have to say about that."

They started asking me questions about what type of systems I use at work. I can tell then what brand, but they wanted specific models and operating systems, I can't give out that information. I told them that I work at a government facility and can't provide that info, that didn't thrill them. Then they started asking about phone exchanges, and voicemail systems, I have no knowledge of those. They didn't really have any questions for me then. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Keri really wanted to go to basketball practice last night, so I took her. She is taking it hard that she can't play. She still feels like she let her team down, even though I have repeatedly reassured her that she most certainly has not. Not many kids would still want to go to practice when their season is over. Instead of being a player, she became a coach. She helped her coaches when she could. She worked on dribbling, and 1 armed shooting when she couldn't. At one point in time they were working on plays, they've had to shuffle positions due to the loss of Keri, she would take whoever was playing her position and walk them through what they needed to do. Not only did she show them what to do, she told them why, and pointed out things to watch for. When the coach was showing a new in-bounds play, Keri even pointed out a way to the coach to improve it, which the coach then started teaching the girls. She's a good kid. It breaks my heart that she is hurt, and that she is upset that she can't play. There are kids on the team that don't want to be there, mom and dad make them. Keri would trade places with them in a heartbeat. She's a special kind of kid. |

Most would sit and sulk if they were there at all. (not just most kids, either.. most adults, too). It looks like this is a great opportunity for Keri to learn new skills. I don't mean to say that the broken arm and not playing are good things!!!! But, forcibly staying on the side lines is teaching her lots of skills that she wouldn't get otherwise. Good self knowledge to have in the long run. She won't always get to be on the court, so knowing how to effectively and usefully be on the side lines is great. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Morning Ghoulies. The south is indeed a mess. Lost of ice and snow from here all the way down. Heck, Georgia has a state of emergency called! We had some pretty snow and I finally dug my winter wear out and went for a short walk. I was glad I found a pair of boots my foot would not scream when I put on. Caylee LOVES the snow. I am going to take her for a walk this am before the winds kick up and the snow starts to melt away. Though it isn't going to get much over freezing today so it may stick around for a bit. No driving for a day or so until the roads clear up. They did NO salting or sanding before the storm to save taxpayers money (really... they said that). so we will be iced in the valley until the weekend it looks like.

The weather channel is reporting people are still stuck on the highways around Atlanta, some have been there for as long as 12 hours. That's not good, not good at all! I hope you two have a nice walk in the snow. |

MotoQueen ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning from the frozen tundra in the south. WAIT, did I say south? I must be in the north somewhere. There is snow on the ground, closure of schools and businesses. Yup, I must have transported to the north sometime during the last 24 hours. Maybe I'll find Ann just down the road. Hmmm. Well, I made it home safe and sound yesterday. Twice! Yes, I did go out with the other couple who had tickets to the show and they have a 4-wheel drive vehicle and he grew up in Missouri, and goes back there lots, so he is good with knowing how to drive. We got back into the city no problem, went to dinner, and then while we were there, the waiter came up and asked if we were going to the Fox. Why yes, we are. He was sorry to have to tell us that they had just cancelled the show. 1 hour before curtain time. Why they could not have done that 3 hours out. By the time they did it, most of the ticket holders were already in the area. Anyway, we were good about it. Told him (the waiter) that it was not a wasted trip. We found a great new restaurant that we would come back to, so we were okay. It then took us 2 hours to drive very slowly home. We avoided most of the traffic and I was actually surprised when I got home to find out that there were people still out on the roads trying to get home for the last 4-5 hours. The major road mess was to the north end of Atlanta and upwards. I guess there were some accidents involving tractor trailers that completely shut down the road. My son, who is lives only 5 miles from his office, he spent 2 hours in his car before finding a parking lot, parking the car and then walked home. It took him a total of 3 hours, so I'm thinking that the two hours in the car, he did not get more than a mile from his office. His girlfriend, runs a coffee shop, she did not get to leave until 7pm (and her workday started at 5am), she eventually parked at a WaffleHouse, and slept in her car. I was really worried about that. She did have two blankets and I guess she must have been smart about the running of the car because she is okay and back at work this morning. I texted her that she should take MARTA home today and not try to drive. She can walk the couple of miles from MARTA to their apartment. Our son is going to take MARTA down to check on her, and hopefully they can go home together. When I spoke with him this morning, he was so tired from worrying about her all night. |

MotoQueen ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yup, it is pretty crazy here. It should get up to 34 today, so some of it will melt, and tomorrow may be even more treacherous with all the ice. Tomorrow we are supposed to be at the hospital at 5:45am for Frank surgery. I'm wondering if we will get a call today canceling it. I swept our driveway, and where it is clear, it has all melted away, so we could get out of the driveway, and the street is melting. But what will be bad is the streets where people have driven and packed down the snow. That is not going to easily melt. Part of me is hoping they cancel the surfer (the half that wants to stay safe), the other part wants the surgery to happen because Frank has been so nervous about it, I am trying to be supportive and not let that drive me crazy, but I'm not really good at showing empathy/sympathy. When I'm nervous, I make stupid jokes, etc. And I've been trying not to do that to him. I would love to just get it over with. Anyway, what happens will happen, and I will just go with the flow. |

MotoQueen ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Oh, and we got out the old runner sled. Waxed up the runners and took it for a ride down the street. It is now being used on the next street over by my neighbor and a bunch of kids. The next street over is straight until you get to the bottom, so it can make for some good sledding. Not today. They really packed it down sledding last night, so when I tried it today, I could not steer worth $#!!. I got about two houses down and crashed into the curb sending me flying. Scraped up my knees and I know I am going to be sore later. So I told them they could not take the sled down that street. Then another neighbor who lives on that street came out and told us a kid broke his back on the street a couple of years ago sledding. So we walked the kids all to the bottom of the hill and let them sled down there where it was safer. Wish I had Ann's tubes. |
