Good afternoon, A-Team!  I got a good 14-mile run in this morning (was supposed to be 12, but got talked into doing 14).  It's so pretty out, I want to ride my bike.  But I'm supposed to be "tapering" so I dunno if that's allowed.  I might still do it, but just make it at a leisurely pace.

hey. I'm back.  Just finished a 2.5 hour nap...would like to keep napping.
I've already had to cancel my trail run with a friend.  I really need to get some work related stuff done now.  ugh.

Next challenge is going to need to have hours of sleep as one of my goals (naps won't be valid sleep time)

Weather has turned kind of crappy on us in the Bay Area.  I cancelled my OWS and opted to do my LDS in the pool.  Not very fun and quite monotonous.  On a positive note, I had the old folks doing water aerobics next to my lane, so it was kind of like a mass water start with the splashingLaughing

Then, I did a road ride in the afternoon and got clobbered by the wind.  I think the weather report showed 15-20 MPH sustained winds and I couldn't even tell you about the gusts.  At one point, going into the wind, I was knocked down to 12 mph on the flats.  Ouch!

wgraves7582 - 2010-04-10 12:21 PM Howdy everybody - just a quick drop in before I go take a nap.  Got 50 miles in earlier on the mountain bike - what a beast that thing is!!!!  I am contemplating what I am taking tonight either the mtn. bike again or my salsa.  I will think about that while I am sleeping.  Plan on hitting the road around 6:00pm for an overnighter - just hope this wind dies down a little!

Got a flat - big shock!  Luckily it was a slow leaker so I milked it home and changed it when I got home!

Here is some physics for you guys = 29'er mtn bike + low rear tire + 185 pound male on top of said tire = very hard to push machine!

Hit some fantastic hills so it was good training - just going to sleep now!  Have a great Saturday and I will update you tomorrow when I wake up - LOL

Are you rethinking this whole MTB thing on the Trans-Iowa?  Physics is a pain in the butt!

Had a great ride with the Donkeys today! We had our blessing of the burro. We take a 20 mile group ride out to the donkey that gave us our name. Now there is two of them! They were out and even came up to the fence! Had a great time with everyone. I am very blessed to have found such a great group to train and hang with in the area! Along with all of my "challenge" friends!

My wife and I really enjoyed it.  It was fun to see some normal people attempting to balance life and their desire to race.  I found it really inspiring!

Glad I could share.  Enjoy!

Howdy all! I kind of disappeared for a few days and i'm not sure I will make up for lost time in here (sorry) but I will say that I have been getting my workouts in and even managed to update the roster!

On another note, I got my one and only swim in today to test the ole shoulder and I am so friggen upset...it started bothering me almost immediately so I only did a few laps. I have no clue what to do now. This is the first time I have even come close to a pool in over a month ~ i've been adamant about my PT and ST and yet I still can't swim. I guess I will have to wait until we move and get settled in so I can find a doc/ortho guy who will set me up with an MRI immediately! How disappointing!

Sorry about your swim...

I like to think that things happen for a reason...maybe this is your time to make improvements on your bike and run.  It's funny how things turn out sometimes...=)

Oh, bummer...  that must be disappointing.  Maybe a little more rest while you are moving and settling in will help?

I've missed reading your monologues in the morning.Laughing  So sorry about the shoulder.  I can feel your frustration all the way across the Pacific.

Won't go into much detail but TransIowa is off - you can read above for the whole story!

Have a great day everyone.  See you tomorrow!

Well Bill, it sounds like you had an epiphany!  From what I know of you, I'm certain you will make the right decision and be blessed by the support of your family.

Your story was quite touching....
