Expert 972 Falls Church | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! tstl - 2012-04-09 10:12 PM I'll take first dibs on the goodies. Looks like quite a stash you have there! Thanks!OK, taper madness has already set in (and I ran 14 miles today, so that can hardly be considered tapering)! I spent the second half of the day cleaning out and reorganizing my pantry- a major undertaking, considering that I am a prolific baker and minor-league food hoarder. I have an inability to pass up free samples, which is why I have a bunch of bars and gels that I don't even like. I'd like to pass these along to one of our newer members who is experimenting with nutrition. Louise, I started to send some of this stuff with your package, but I didn't want it to look like I was dumping my junk on you! The first one to respond here in the forum gets the goodies (sorry, Suzi, US postage only!). |

Expert 972 Falls Church | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Mid-week! How is everyone doing? Today is a planned very short swim in the wetsuit. It will take me longer to put on the suit than my planned laps! Haha. |

Extreme Veteran 495 | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Melanie, have fun trying out your wetsuit! I swam in my new one for the first time on Saturday. It was a good fit (thank goodness!), and I was able to get in and out of it without a crew of 10 or power tools. I'm FINALLY tapering (!), so just a couple of short workouts on the agenda today. FYI, everybody, TriSports.com is having their birthday sale. I just got some Zoot Ultra tri shorts for half-price, plus another 20% off with the bday12-e coupon code. I also got the DeSoto 400 shorts I've been wanting (best for looooong rides), and another pair of Newtons- $40 off, plus the discount! I'll have to remember how much I 'saved' when that credit card bill rolls in! I think part of my 'taper madness' involves shopping! Yesterday, I hit Road Runner Sports pretty hard; I figure a marathon is worthy of a new outfit, no? Plus there's a new swimsuit on the way. See what happens when I have a little time on my hands?? Happy mid-week workouts, everyone! |

Hilde - nice rack and bling. We've got an AG here which is 80+ so I'm imagining (sp?) that althogh the AG gets smaller it eventually gets larger again - or are you talking in pure numbers of people in the AG? |

Yeah, I'm pretty proud of my rack, ha ha!! And yes that IS a spring chicken Connie! As well as a Turkey trot turkey.... I prefer medals, but as you can see some races give out some weird awards. After travelling all the way to Indy, I received the plastic cup... I guess I should have used it for gin and tonics!! |

Expert 972 Falls Church | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Good luck to all racers this weekend. Especially Tammy on her HIM. (Thanks for the goody box!!!) The weather for my race tomorrow looks perfect. Temps will be in the low 50's in the morning and by race start probably in high 50's. By mid-day they will be around 70!. The race starts at 10:00am. Love that start time. I'll be hopping in the car early for a 1.5 hour drive and will listen to my favorite country station on the way down. Rumpass in Bumpass here comes an MMMer! |

Expert 1618 Temple, TX | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Ditto on good wishes for our racers!!! TammyTurtle does her first HIM, and if you've been following her logs, she has been beastly with her training!! She has a marathon in a few weeks too... Melanie has an Oly, the Rumpass, love that name! I'm pretty sure she's gonna smoke that Rumpass! I'm just glad she doesn't live near me so we aren't competing against each other, because she's another beast!! I think I may be one AG ahead of her this year... Erin has the 3rd race in her tri series and is in contention for the overall winner!!! Fingers crossed that all that horse training has paid off and she is speedy like a race horse! We have some people travelling... Kirsten has her brother's wedding, Louise is going on a cruise, Wilson is in the UK again... Keep training everyone, I have the BEST group EVER... today was the cutoff for letting me know about continuing in the mentor group and I gotta admit there weren't any surprises, so I will post a new list over here for you to cut and paste and add to your dashboard if you wish. |

Veteran 421 | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! I'm back home after 3 days away for work training. I feel very blob-like due to my lack of exercise and extra crappy eating. I gained 3-5 lbs in 3 days. Probably some of it is from sodium, but UGGGGH.......Next week I'll be gone a few days too. I'm taking my son to Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos. I think he'll love the waterpark. My YMCA is holding a "wellness" challenge that runs for 8 weeks. There are individual and a team elements to the competition. Tracking food and exercise gets points for the team as does week to week weight loss. I'm going to give it a shot and try to get more motivated on the food end of things.

Travel will do that to you! Drink plenty of water that will help get rid of the blob-like feeling. Works for me anyways. Good luck on the Y program. And have fun at Great Wolf! |

New user 322 KY | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Good luck this weekend, Tammy and Melanie! Hilde- that sure is some rack you've got there! You SHOULD be proud. I'm loving everyone's bling pictures. I thought of 2 questions I wanted to ask you all. Can anyone recommend a good, entry-level, sleeveless wetsuit for a beginner swimmer such as myself? Also, do any of you ladies wear trisuits? I have been dabbling with ordering one. I have a tri tank but it is not as tight as it should be and I feel like it dampened my swim last time, no pun intended. Oh,and Tammy thank you for recommending those aqua sphere goggles. I tried them last night and no leakage! Insert smart comment here, Hilde:-) Safe trips to all our traveling MMMers this weekend! |

Expert 1618 Temple, TX | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Eriin.... I know Tammy Tucker has an Exterra, or Xterra suit... they run really good specials all the time on the advertisement strips here on BT. I am looking for a tri suit too, I've always gone 2 piece because I have such a long torso and want to avoid the camel toe look. But I really want to go with a one piece. Can't recommend anything first hand having never worn a 1-piece, but I am currently salivating over a couple of the Kiwami suits that will match my bike and look to be FAST!! Spensy though, at least for the ones in green and black, looking at $239, and I hate that I can't try it on, but they supposedly have wonderful customer service, so I imagine I could exchange it if necessary. I'm sure others that are wearing one piece tri suits will chime in with their recommendations. Edited by hildekq 2012-04-14 1:42 PM |

Expert 972 Falls Church | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! The Rumpass in Bumpass kicked my butt. Here's my race report. I came in 4th of 13 in my age group and 71 of 207 overall female. I must admit I am a bit disappointed with my times. So I'm reflecting on the race. My mental toughness just wasn't what was needed on the swim and run. I felt the bike portion went well given 1st time on my new bike and experiment in pacing. Erin - I have an Xterra full-sleeve Vortex. I'm pretty pleased with it. I actually got it 2nd hand from someone here on BT. So keep an eye out in the Gear for Sale section. SlowTwitch has a forum of stuff for sale too. Erin - I wear a single-piece trisuit. It is actually one for men! I really like it. The only issue is having to take the whole thing of to use the porta-potties. I got it because I couldn't find a pair of tri-shorts that fit well (they were all too tight around the thigh). The shorts come down to just about my knee which I really like. Here's to the weekend! |

New user 322 KY | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Melanie, nicely done today! I can't wait to ready your race report. 4th in your age group is great! Hilde and Meanie, thanks for the trisuits and wetsuits advice. Now Hilde, why on earth would you want to avoid the camel toe look? LOL! My tri went well today. I did win the series, and finished 2nd in today's race. That makes 3 seconds in a row, all to different women! I'm just waiting official results and then will post a race report. Highlight: dry heaving halfway through the run. That's always fun... Hope everyone else is having a good weekend. My couch is a wonderful place to be right now! |
