jsklarz - 2012-01-19 9:22 AM my kids and wife have lice.  Is it wrong for me to sleep in a hotel until they get that crap under control?

Hell no.  Wear a skull cap and carry a bottle of raid too.

You can come have a sleep over with Shaun.  Beer, Sliders wings and playing Modern Warfare all night.

Cool. Can you get me storm trooper jammies

Yup, snow has started.  Looking at 6 inches today. Not that I can do much anyway, but PT is going well, and will start strengthing slowly again next week.

Getting ready for a long trainer ride.  Feels somewhat better to be on the trainer when its snowing outside. At least I know I couldn't ride outside even if I wanted to.

Missing another run today due to illness.  This sucks.  My husband and I hired a babysitter for tonight, and I refuse to cancel.  Greek food and the movie Shame.  Hope I can get it together by dinner.

26 mile ride with 1600ft of climbing today. Turned out colder than predicted so I was underdressed a tad. Pretty darn cold on the downhills pushing 40mph!

For all those clean eating, paleo-ish peeps here - I made these brownies yesterday and they are delicious!!! I cut the honey in half and they were plenty sweet (at least for someone who doesn't eat sugar). Even the kids liked them. I used dark cocoa too - yummmmm. I halved the recipe, put them in an 8x8 inch glass pan and cut them into 16 pieces - worked out to be 126 calories, 13g carbs, 8g fat, and 3g protein.

Damn-Near-Paleo-Brownies:

Ingredients:
16 oz almond butter
2 eggs
1 cup honey
1 tbsp pure vanilla
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/2 tsp sea salt
1 tsp baking soda

Blend almond butter until smooth (microwave a little bit).
Add eggs, honey and vanilla. Blend cocoa, salt, and baking soda.
Grease a 9×13 pan
Bake @325 for 30-40 minutes. Only 15-20 minutes in smaller pan.
Enjoy!

Yes, much better.  Stiff neck, headaches, and body aches are nearly gone.  Still congested and have a lot of chest tightness.  I slept 10 hours last night thanks to Nyquil, and I think the sleep really helped.  I'm taking tomorrow off and plan on resting as much as possible.  Thanks for asking, Kelly.

If anyone is interested the Xterra US Tri Champ is on at 3:00 EST. I think ABC. Same time as the Pats game though so I'll be switching back and forth.

Happy Sunday everyone. Got a 6 mile run done in the rain this morning, felt good. I've been pretty MIA this past week, work has been crazy again and unfortunately I had to miss some workouts because of it.

ZR running in the cold -- not fun.  I was on the treadmill again today (still too much snow and ice on the roads around here, running outside is just not safe).

Hey there guys,

Lots of good info here in the last few days about nutrition, I'm learning answers to questions I didn't even know I needed to ask.

I had a pretty good week, got through pretty much every work out I had planned for myself. The highlight of my week being my long ride on Saturday, it was my first time past 100km. Left me feeling very pleased with myself.

It's an important week for me this week, my first race of the year is on Saturday, a 150km cycle road race around Mt Taranaki  I am a bit nervous, I'll be going quite a bit further than I have before, but I am really looking forward to it...

Why the chicken broth?  Is it for the sodium?  Or because it is easy on the system.

Also, the groups always asks about book recommendations ... I am reading Robb Wolf's "The Paleo Solution:  The Original Human Diet".  I bought it because I am a carb addict and want to change that by getting more good carbs and proteins in my diet.  This book really goes alot further in teaching you how proteins, fats and carbs are used in the body and what you NEED and DON'T NEED.  I would probably never go 100% Paleo, but I am learning alot and having been changing my diet the last week or so.  Check it out.

Robb also does a good job dumbing stuff down and he is very funny!

I don't know how anyone does long trainer rides on a regular basis.  I did a long ride in the basement today, only 2:40, and had to give myself a pep talk after the first half was done.  It's kind of like a treadmill, and even a pool to some extent.  I want to "go somewhere" when I'm running, biking or swimming.  Today I mostly watched House episodes, which was ok.  Last time I did this long of a ride I only listened to music, which was OK too.  Maybe I'll get used to it?

I hope we have nice weather next weekend so I can get outside.

I haven't done many long trainer rides, i think about 90 minutes is the longest I've spent on it at one time. But I found watching sport (Especially the tour de france or similar) was a good way to keep the interest level up.

Spinervals also do some long workout dvds, I haven't tried them but I do enjoy the shorter workouts on occasion, so I'm thinking I'll buy one or 2 when winter comes around down here.
