jjcnbg - 2009-10-16 8:58 AM . It has been such a long year and a brutal last six months. I am working hard but definitely not as focused as I was 2 or 3 months ago. I am so ready to get this first one under my belt QUOTE]
I agree with this big time!!!! I am with you on this 100%.
I am also a big fan of the run. I do like cycling as well. I happen to be lucky in the fact I can ride and run right from my house.
I am with you on the swimming though, I enjoy rec swimming, but getting in the pool for laps is just not my favorite. I think becuase its so boring. Perhaps a swiMp3 or something would make it better.

Who is freaking out about catching a cold or worse?
I'm fighting a cold right now...the guy in the office next to me has been coughing his head off for the past two weeks...we kept expecting him to cough up a lung or something...he should have been at home, instead of getting the rest of us sick....I have been sticking to my workout schedule.......thought I was going to come down with the flu...better to be sick now than the week of Nov 1st......should be recovered by next week...I keep washing my hands all the time too...but didn't prevent me from getting a cold......good luck on not getting sick...
Mr Steve
I totally am. My GF caught a cold earlier this week and I started sleeping in the spare bedroom! I wash my hands obsessively and use a lot of hand sanitizer. I'm becoming like Monk.
Who is freaking out about catching a cold or worse?
I went to a 3 year old birthday party last night and all I kept thinking OMG there are 1000 germs floating around in this place. After the party I went to CVS and bought Airborne. Needless to say I washed my hands about 10 times last night.
My daughter is sick this weekend. I have been totally steering clear (with in reason) .
My other daughters boyfriend had swine flu. I told her last weekend she couldn't see him.
I admit to calling my dr's office 2 times so far and asking about the Swine Flu shots. They are not in yet! I had to go to a meeting for work the other day and as soon as introductions and handshakes were over, I stuck my hands under the conference table and put sanitizer on them. I hoped no one noticed. So no, you are definitely not the only paranoid one.
Getting the zipp 404 wheels out and putting them on my bike for my long bike workout tomorrow. Really looking forward to this final long training week and then...ahhh...taper sweet taper!!
Ok...so i had a spare minute and check when Ironman Wisconsin posted bib numbers. IT was 10 days before race. So we have some time to worry about other things...like our last long workouts....which i am sure we all are doing this weekend. So to all on this board...have a safe and productive training weekend!

Yes, but I believe they also got their Athlete Guide later then we did. So does this mean Ironman is starting to do things earlier? That is the ultimate question.

I have been lurking on this thread for a while now from the UK reading with interest all the fascinating and interesting posts! Florida Ironman will be my first. I did a couple of 'tri's' in 1999 but have been a long distance runner since. I decided that to 'celebrate' my 40th birthday I would do an Ironman! This year I have only competed in a Olympic and half Ironman, but hope this will be enough. With marathon running I have always been self coached but decided Ironman training is a completely different proposition so got myself a coach. This has worked well as the programme has kept me in check and not get carried away. She has predicted a frightening sub 11 but reading reports I realise so much can and invariably does go wrong! Hope everyone has a great race and achieves their dream goals, and a big thanks for providing me with so much invaluable info via this thread!
Well...the zipps got a workout on our first day of fall like temps in Central Florida. A windy and cool day compared to 95 degrees last weekend. That was my last longish bike workout before Ironman. Now my longish run tomorrow and then its off to Taperland Woo Hoo!!!
Racing an oly tomorrow in Key Biscayne and the talk of the athletes is how cold it's gonna be!!! low of 60/high of 75! Don't think it'll be wetsuit legal though, as it's been Africa hot here the past couple of weeks. May bring arm warmers though!!
