ebshot - 2009-06-05 2:33 PM My softball game was canceled for tonight.   Sweet.  I think I'll watch Slumdog Millionaire while riding the trainer.  Sounds like a fun Friday night, no?

What big party animals we all are!  I get to go to class until 9:30 and then up at 5:30 tomorrow for the 100k ride.  This is as much fun as staying out all night drinking and dancing - right?  right?

mmmm donuts and raining!!!

My roommate in college did a bike race called tour de donut. Same concept as the donut run...I wonder which would be harder!

My bet would be on the run being much harder.  I can eat a meal and get on the bike shortly afterward and I can eat energy bars and stuff while riding.  I can't eat anything before or during a run, except gels.

So I guess maybe if they were jelly filled donuts and I just squeezed that out......

Agreed.  I would much rather wake up in the wee hours of the morning for a race than go out drinking

Speaking of which I turned down drinks tonight.  I figured my knee will be much more efficient at finishing healing if I'm not pumping my body full of alcohol.

Okay - cookies, cake, and donuts?  That's just not fair.  I actually drooled a little bit looking at the pictures.  Hmmm...maybe that's a sign that I need to have something to eat.

Every Friday, my company has doughnuts in the morning. Now that is torture.

I have zero willpower when it comes to free donuts.  I would have one every Friday  morning.  And then I'd go back for seconds.

I definitely did that today. It is so hard to walk by them on the way to the coffee pot and not take one.

Congrats. How does the lottery system work there? Is it by school, or by time? We've got our son in private school in Vegas as the quality of the public system here is awful, so haven't had to deal with the different tracts, times, etc, etc.

It's pretty pitiful, they put all the kids name's in a jar and pull out a set number.  It was 20 today and then 20 more names in August.  Total chance, it doesn't matter if your child is special ed, or been in pre-k or not.  Luck.  It's a messed up system but oh well!

Our schools here aren't great but for elementary, they are fine.  If we still live here when the kids go to middle school, they will go to a private school.

The special ed system is where I have had the biggest problem with.  They just don't want to help.  Bottom line is money.  The school doesn't want to pay one cent to help my child.  Frustrating!

disturbed275 - 2009-06-05 12:04 PM Some coworkers and I are going out for some really tasty pizza!

Great.  Now I want pizza.  And all I have are leftovers.  Which I haven't even been able to heat up because my co-workers insist on putting things in the microwave and then walking away and doing who-knows-what for 10 minutes until they wander back to get their food, not caring if anyone else is waiting to use the microwave.

I'm very whiny today, have you noticed?

Guess what I had for dinner? Yes, pizza. (Not the TAN version, btw.)

I blame everyone who has posted on this team thread.

But it was sooooo good.

Did a 15 min transition run again last night (now I am caught up from missing Monday's run) and 30 minutes this morning,  I think I am up to 30% of goal already.  I might have to increase my goal (Dee says that is always allowed), but I am going to wait until after the middle of  June to do it, as I have something going every weekend this month.

That's fine. Yes, you might as well wait....

Happy Friday all.

Heading out tomorrow with the family and visting friends to take them to the Grand Canyon for the day. Haven't decided if I'm going to haul the bike along or just get a long run in while there.

Ooo, sounds like fun!

Speaking of running and donuts....

We have the annual "Krispy Kreme Challenge."

"Beginning at the NC State Belltower, each runner
runs 2 miles to the Krispy Kreme store located
on Peace St. in Raleigh. After downing a full dozen
of the famous Krispy Kreme doughnuts, the runner
must run the two miles back. All in one hour."

And this is from their FAQ:

Am I allowed to throw up?
Okay, we can’t technically stop you from throwing up, and quite frankly, that’s just part of the race, but don’t MAKE yourself throw up. The real challenge is to keep all 12 down, so don’t cheat yourself.

I think they closed the race at 5,000 participants this year....

disturbed275 - 2009-06-05 2:52 PM That reminds we have a local race called the donut run.  It's a 5k where you get time taken off your total for every donut that you eat along the route.  I have not been able to partake yet, but it sounds like fun.  Personally though, i'd rather run the 5k and then eat my donuts, but maybe that's just me.

That reminds me - today is national donut day!  (Really.)

I bet the sprinkles make pretty colored vomit puddles along the race course.  Eeeewwww....

*Multicolored puke toppage*

There's a visual I didn't need...

x2.

I remember seeing some photos from the Krispy Kreme Challenge (see above post)... And yes, there were puke puddles along the route. I heard that people tried to make it to the bushes/trees along the route, but weren't always successful.
