Won't go into much detail but TransIowa is off - you can read above for the whole story!

Have a great day everyone.  See you tomorrow!

Had a good day today! Worked a bike-a-thon at the Y today, I got to lead the 4th hour, people were quite tired but I had fresh legs! Think I was a bit tough on them....2 people came to me and said it was their first time in a spin class and it was tougher then they thought it would be but they had a great time! Then went for a run...not so good, the first 2 miles are always tough but then I usually find my stride....I think I lost it on the bike yesterday! Oh well was going to do 10 but called it after 5. Wasn't even sure I was going to make it back home BUT the sun was out and it is beautiful here again! So nice to be doing stuff outside!

Well Bill, it sounds like you had an epiphany!  From what I know of you, I'm certain you will make the right decision and be blessed by the support of your family.

Your story was quite touching....

Tim - great choice of words - has been the "word" at our church lately!

Thanks!

Wow, Bill.  This is not what I expected to read when I logged in today!  But you certainly sound at peace with your decision.  And that's all that matters.

Oh, what a weekend...  my house is still a mess.  I'm hoping we all have clean clothes for tomorrow.  But got an outside run AND and outside bike in!  Also had great swim lessons with the kids and lots of fun playing outside with them.  I  "let" my husband go fishing twice.  Who needs clean clothes when there are smiles all around, right?

Oh wow Bill!  You were so looking forward to that race!  That's great that you're so at peace with the whole thing, though.

You know, I was thinking the same thing.  I like having them, but I really have no clue how to go about putting one together either!

I didn't get in any workouts this weekend and it doesn't look like I'll get to the gym today.  There is so much going on with the kids with softball, soccer, birthday parties, etc. and add on top of that yardwork, general house-realted stuff and it just seems like there's no time on the weekends.  Then I'm stuck with this Monday morning guilt that I didn't exercise.  Don't get me wrong, it was an awesome weekend, but I just wish I was more disciplined to squeeze in a run or a bike ride.

I was feeling the same way yesterday.  I started feeling really tired and crummy by early evening.  Finally, I had to just stop what I was doing and go for a quick run.  Got home, took a shower, and all was better.  Amazing how addicting exercise becomes!

Here's a question I have today...  Do any of you HATE your bike helmet?

My helmet is not anything fancy.  It's a pretty basic, boring one that I got about 5 years ago (when I bought a bike so I could actually bike in my first tri I had signed up for).  At the time, I didn't want to spend a lot of $$ on a helmet since I wasn't sure I would even survive the tri, or if I did whether I would ever want to ride again.  I just wanted to protect my noggin.

Yesterday during my ride, I was reminded how much I LOVE riding outside but how much HATE my helmet.  It gives me a headache everytime I put it on.  The straps dig into my chin and by the time I get home I feel like it's choking me.

For those that may actually like your helmet, is there such a thing as a more comfortable helmet?  Or am I just a big cranky-pants who may never be happy with a helmet?  I'm at the point now where I don't mind spending some money on a helmet for increased comfort (and safety, obviously).  I just don't want to throw money away looking for something that may not exist...

I think I'm rambling...  Undecided

You deserve a comfortable helmet - go buy a new one   I have 2 giro's and like them both!  My road is a lot more comfortable than the mountain bike one - but I can hook my headlamp and flasher on the mtn bike one so that is worm quite a bit more!

Thank you!  I am happy to know that such a thing exists!
