Again...studying...currently to disney music...some little mermaid and now hercules...

Did a swim this morning after my mandatory session. 3000m down. I forced myself through it...I have a run planned later as this morning it didn't happen when I woke up at 630 and reset the alarm to 730.

EVENING GHOULIES.

happy to report i DID NOT die at Spin Boot Camp.

and considering it was my first class i HUNG IN THERE and did reasonably well.

i guess conjuring up in my mind that is was gonna be TOTALLY HELLACIOUS did the trick, mentally.


i have to admit, i went into class LITERALLY SHAKING.

my spinning was UBER STRONG throughout, as if there was any doubt.  though.  admittedly i had some doubt.  its one thing to spin for an hour, its a whole other ball of wax to spin for 10 minutes and then go through TEN MINUTES OF BOOT CAMP HELL only to get back on the bike to spin.

my BOOT CAMP FORM from time to time w certain exercises left something to be desired, but that only means that theres room for improvement....weaknesses to be strengthened....limiters that need to be transmuted into strengths.

im MOST DEFINATELY going to take the class again.

but for it being the FIRST TIME, im giving myself a HIGH FIVE.

7+  on execution

9 on effort

10 for HTFUing it.



it was DEFINATELY INTERESTING.  the set up of the class.  i was promptly told and i quote, 'THIS ISNT ABOUT SPINNING THIS ALL ABOUT BOOT CAMP'

well alrighty then.

we started out w about 8-10 minutes of spinning, mixed intervals standing, seated climbs.  fast flats.  working the entire time.

then it was 8-10 mins of boot camp stuff, 10 sets of 3 exercises.  cant remember exactly what.

then 8-10 more minutes of spinning.

then 8-10 mins of 10 sets of 3 exercises.

these were executed VERY quickly.

then 8-10 more minutes of spinning

and 8-10 mins of 10 sets of exercises.

we did lunges, squats, lizard pushups (or something like that), squat jumps (plyo), kick backs (triceps)  regular push ups, hole body crunches, leg lifts.....

i sucked at the regular pushups which i expected.  the kick backs were hard only cuz my arms were already crushed from ST yesturday. but other than that i felt strong...and again, even stronger on the spin.

i surprised myself how strong i was.

im thinking thats what i needed to know.

now i know.

its a good feeling.

im tired as all get out.

and ive already taken a dose of ibuprofen.

i suspect that ill be sore tomorrow and even more sore on Friday.


im not sure i mentioned, one of the yoga studios where Joseph is doing a workshop offers a yoga class for cyclists.  its tomorrow, so im hoping that will do me some good and stretch out my aching muscles.

im also scheduled to spin tomorrow.  gonna go in and spin easy/light...

then head to the city for the yoga class.

im hoping the easy/light spin and the yoga class will stave off some of the muscle soreness that might otherwise experience....that and the ibuprofen.

im trying to ice my triceps too.

those by far are the most sore, though they started out that way.

i'll let you know.

I needed to ride my bike today, but when I got home I didn't feel like it. I came up with 20 reasons not to go on a ride. I even laid down across my bed and fell asleep for half an hour.

Then I finally drug my azz out the door. I went hard on this loop I have of non busy roads. I had 9.5 miles in and if I went right I would be home in 3.5 miles. If I went left I'd be home a lot more miles later.

I went left. When I got home I had 21.72 miles in. It was hot out, and parts were pretty windy. When it was all said and done I'm glad I did it though.

Then when I got home I did a  mile walk/run with my daughter while she rode her bike.

I should sleep well tonight.

its a good thing i do too cuz i SERIOUSLY would NOT have made i through it was THAT HARD.


i think the one thing that was helping me mentally was to remember all the kind, sweet, encouraging comments that instructor has said to me over the months (yes, she scares the SH^T OUT OF ME when she's teaching class, but outside shes just SO encouraging, and what she says is SO significant cuz she's just so fabulous herself that what she says means ALOT.  you know shes one of THOSE kinds of people.)

all those words were ruminating in my head during class....well except when i was telling myself, dont puke dont puke dont puke or your not gonna die your not gonna die your not gonna die.

and then every once in awhile she would look over at me (our bikes were next to each other) and she'd ask if i was hanging in, or would say, you look strong.  look at you climbing that hill.

just those few extra words of encouragement....and all the words of encouragement she has given me over the months....helped me BELIEVE that i had what it took to not only HANG IN, but do WELL.


and it made me think.....

never, ever underestimate the power of your words to effect the life of someone else.

you might be the VERY person to give them the confidence that they need (because YOU have the confidence IN THEM) to accomplish something GREAT.


im soooo f'cking fortunate to have the people that i do in my life.

i sucked at the regular pushups which i expected.  the kick backs were hard only cuz my arms were already crushed from ST yesturday. but other than that i felt strong...and again, even stronger on the spin.

i surprised myself how strong i was.

im thinking thats what i needed to know.

now i know.

its a good feeling.

I went left. When I got home I had 21.72 miles in. It was hot out, and parts were pretty windy. When it was all said and done I'm glad I did it though.

Then when I got home I did a  mile walk/run with my daughter while she rode her bike.

I should sleep well tonight.

Rain forced me in on the drainer tonight.  Of course, by the end of the ride I think I saw the sun shining.  Still was a bit nippy out there so it wasn't a bad day to be inside.
