I had to go get Cinnabons as requested for breakfast tomorrow by the crew. At the mall. THE MALL! It was an ordeal. A long line. Angry angry sweet bun eating patrons! Someone preordered 100 delicious buns and this morning the crew of 12 that was supposed to show up and make the buns and make the people happy didnt show....only 2 of them showed up at 9am and it was all on them. Poor girls.

I would fire the rest. On Christmas Day!

That's stone cold courage. On your part, and theirs. The girls who showed up, I mean.

One of the girls said 2 called in sick and 8 quit. Wen they make the buns ....the spreading prepping and rolling ...it only yields 6 buns. It takes about 4 minutes to prep it another 9 in the oven ...another 3 to cool and speak icing and box. I know. I watch the one girl do it over and over and over. She had to fill the 100 order ....plus all the other per orders AND serve the singles to those ...like me ....in line. Ugh. I'm home safe now.

I wouldn't have stuck around. I would've told my guests `Too bad. They were busy.' and made them eat quinoa and carrots.

Fortunately, tomorrow is all heat and eat. All the prep work done all the way through roasting the prosciutto to top the blue cheese salads. I have containers of chopped onions for the peas, horseradish sauce and prime rib are prepped and ready. Stuffed shrimp, twice baked potatoes and green beans for tonight with a bottle of prosecco chilling.

I do love a busy day in the kitchen. It's chemistry + creativity + eating all in one.

I had already committed 20 minutes in line before knowing the deal.....I only waited another 20 after that ...had lots of company waiting with others and we chatted. Christmas cheer!!

We were at whole foods last night and that nearly put me over the edge. I can't imagine a mall today.

I made a whole-dark-cherry gelee flamed with brandy that even you would be proud of (no cranberry sauce or cranberries to be found here). Also, my first "pumpkin" pie ever ... with butternut squash, and no-added-sugar b/c of my dad's diabetes. It was amazing! (I guess I'm amazed because I really didn't think I could carry that one off)

Controlled fire in the kitchen is spectacular! It can, however, be risky, but sexy, in the bedroom...

Is it wrong thst I only like a gel like cranberry from a can? I can admit it.

The best slice is the one with the can ring impressions.

TAN is a cooking frenzy today!  I'm so glad we're going to someone else's house tomorrow. Someone who is a fantastic cook and doesn't really need me to add anything of tasty value besides wine/beer and dessert (maybeSealed

Wow! I hope people cut them some slack.   We got bake 'em yourself Cinnabon cinnamon rolls. Not quite the same, but I don't think J was ready to drive an hour to brave the mall for me.

Last year I got the bake em yerselfs and my daughter shamed me. So this year I promised the real deal. And I got lots of extra icing!!! Now I must make a bunch of tiny meatballs to go in the lasagne. Mmmm. Well, maybe ...I'm not the best cook and such!

Shame? Is that what it takes? Maybe next year!

Happy mini-balling

A lovely bottle of Chilean sparking wine to celebrate the evening. Cono Sur from the Bio-bio valley. A blend of Pinot noir, Riesling and Chardonnay. Nicely balanced.

I never would have tried it without the recommendation of my local liquor store (LLS) owner. They get these oddball beverages which are exceptionally good, but not mainstream.

Plus, they're dog friendly and Chico gets a treat when we go.

A true classic movie
I went through the house/museum last year (it's not far from where I live).  Sadly, however, the house was only used for the exterior shots..... the interior of it doesn't match the movie at all.  Whole lot of neat memorabilia in there, though.

Oh, and... BEWBS!
