Court85 - 2010-01-20 2:59 PM I will check that out. I don't even really know what kind of bike to look for. Any advice would be great.

Hey Courtney, welcome to the site! I think you'll get a lot better feedback if you post this as a new thread on the Triathlon Talk forum.

Yeah can we keep this thread on topic please.

So, I was looking at a bike forum's classified section and they have a sticky (maybe we can also, if this takes off) there called "Pay it forward" based on the movie. Not only are they using it to promote the themes of the movie (giving something at no cost and maybe the goodwill will spread) but also to keep a central post so that people know where to go. I have seen several threads pop up here and there giving free stuff away and then several replies saying that I wished I knew to look or where to look.

That thread also reminded me of when I just started triathlons, a fellow BT'er, ChrisM, gave me his polar heart rate monitor. All he said was to give it to someone else when you are done, which I then gave it to luv2flyjrn a bit later.

What I'm saying is, I know there are many BT'ers who have things that really they don't care to part with and it may not be worth their time to sell it. It's just cluttering up their garage or closet. And there are also a bunch of BT'ers who are starting out, who don't have the funds to start this expensive sport. I'm not saying that to give everything away for free, but just if you have something laying around that you don't feel like selling, you can just give it to another BT'er who may need it.

OK i've been toying with this for a while, but I think I'm ready.....I would really like this to go to someone who really needs this...

2003, 47cm Quintana Roo Kilo Frame.  I used it for one season and it was too big for me, top tube was too long.  I bought this frame new and swapped out components from a another bike I had, it just wasn't the right size for me.  Bike did go down once.  Forks were already parted out.

I kept the frame thinking I would build a bike for the trainer, but i'm sick of moving the frame around and it needs to go...

Taker needs to pay for shipping.  Let me know.

I'm not looking for a frame of that size, but I have to say KUDOS to you for putting a frame in PIF!  That is awesome!!  Way to be thinking of others (and their needs) before yourself ($$).

That's what I love about this thread!

I'm looking for a swim cap.  I know some races give them out and so I am hoping that some experienced triathlete might have a few extras lying around

Anyone looking for a particular item should really post a new thread and put WTB/Trade in the heading. This thread is supposed to be for people who have the kindness in their heart to part with something for free when it's offered not asked. I'm not trying to be an , really. I'm all for asking for something this is just the wrong post to do it. IMO

I was wondering when "Pay it forward" became "Gimme free stuff." The first post doesn't appear to have changed. But maybe I'm just not up with the times.

Sorry!! I didn't mean for anybody to get bent out of shape. The First post didn't say anything about the trade thread and I don't have time to read 54 pages. But thanks for the clearification. I'm new to triathlons and BT, so I might blunder around a bit. However, if I had not ask I wouldn't have got in touch with trophyhusband about a pair of shoes. Next time I will post a new thread unless I'm giving something away.

No problem, we all start somewhere.  I think we should just have the mod expand the thread title to clarify the thread a little.  I'll shoot Marma an e-mail...

I disagree in changing the name, if someone is looking for something they should just post it in the classified section. this thread is for people that want to give something away and then people respond if they can use it. It is not a beggin thread

And hence the suggestion to change the thread title.

Maybe something like:

Pay it forward (if wanting to buy [or beg ], please go to classifieds), or something to that effect.

Just saying, that as much as we think this won't keep happening, it will as membership grows...

Just my $0.02

Don't worry, this will be my last post on the matter...

Old Thule bike tray with a lock stuck in it (but it still works and I don't have the key).  I have it on Craigslist (sold another that was newer on there already).  If you're in the Fleetwood, PA area and can pick it up, it's yours for free.  It's listed on Craigslist as $10, but Beg Tri people can ignore that.  PM me or e-mail ([email protected]).  Here's the linky with the pics.
