In-defense of the Mehusband, if you lose those caps on a pre-2000 car, it's hard to remember which post is positive and which is negative. That's why I do some arc welding just to see which is which before I jump my old car... I guess no radio isn't as bad as no A/C in the summer (been there). He could listen to his ipod...(waiting for complete outrage to break-out over this one...) The posts should have a + sign and a - sign to indicate which is positive and which is negative. Or just fill a glass halfway with water and ask the posts if it's half full or half empty. That usually settles it. |

You can also burn out modules depending on how the car is built. oh yes fuse blown. car fixed and running, but apparently radio is still not working...so husby has a 50 minute commute, each way, in silence. The radio might have been fried no biggie, stereos are cheap. yay walmart! Yes and there are lots of electronic components that are much more expensive than the radio that you could have fried. The engine control module, anti-lock brakes and the electronic stability control and even the voltage regulator on the alternator if you have to buy the whole alternator to fix it are quite expensive. Lucky the fuse blew quickly. Usually they don't blow fast enough to protect the electronics. TW |

The battery should have those indicators as well, but it didn't. I know Red Left Positive, but if I didn't, I could see frying some fuses. The water thing is hilarious by the way. I was down in aero and had surveyed the road, but he was parked in the vally of a dip in the road and I never saw him until I crahsed through the back of the car. Did about $7K worth of damage and totalled my bike in the process. The ER had to put my shoulder meat back together with 37 stitches and stop a bleeding artery, so I guess some of the glass was missed. It was a bit itchy and red, so I scratched it and noticed a bit of that warm wet feeling from fresh blood. The glass was sticking up through the skin. Pretty cool, really... |
