mr2tony - 2007-10-30 12:32 PM Eeeeeeerie!!! I was sending Scout my mileage for Wednesday and Sunday and realized they were the same distance. One was planned to be a 10K but the other wasn't -- I just turned around because I was cold. Only near Hallow's eve does that happen. Scarrrrry!

Hey, goober, you realize they're recorded differently in your logs?

The anal Japanese part obviously did not kick in when he recorded it.

Get your head out of the gutter!

I'll be over my goal with a planned 7 miles today. That'll leave me with just under 9 to hit 100 miles for the month. I'll evaluate tomorrow and see if I'm feeling up to it. I'm tempted to go for it just so I can have my first ever 100 mile month. Just a little stupid or a lot stupid?

I keep trying, but it's set up permanent residence.

Only a little stupid.  I say if you're body is feeling fine after tomorrow, then heck yeah, go for it!  Once you break that 100 mile barrier, it's awesome.

If I'm gonna run a marathon next June, I need to get used to lots of miles and feeling the nuances to know when to keep piling on the miles and when to back off. My training plan will probably start in Feb sometime so I have 3.5 months to get ready for that.

Speaking of training plans, any recommendations? Runner's World? Higdon? Mike Ricci?

My advice:

Look at Running Times, Higdon, and maybe look at some plans in some books.  That should give you an idea of what's most common amongst them.  Pick one that fits your schedule and abilities.

Knowing about what's going on with the plan is key to making the most of it.  If you don't understand the why, it's hard to justify the how.  As always, you can shoot questions my way.

Not going to make it.  Did the most painful 3 miles at the gym tonight.  Rotated running a 1/4  and walking a 1/8.  Probably not one of the smarter things I've done.  Will not be running the rest of the week and re-evaluating for the 5 mile run in Banff on Saturday.  Sorry guys.  I'm 1.5 miles short.

I can't get mad if we're falling short because someone got hurt!

No mad, supportive and inspiring... come on I know you can do it (sharpie is ready and waiting!)

Ice and stay off that leg, if you can, until it heals up, OK?

Accidents happen.

Hi,

I let one of the other seriousl injured guys take 100% due to it being so close to the challenge and unavoidable...

So... since you obviously cannot run at all and it is 100% due to unforeseen injury... you can call it completed BUT only because otherwise you would have to withdraw so close to the end of the challenge and a short stroll within goal it doenst seem fair.

100% AND pulling out have the same result.. and no way Im loosing anyone this close to the end...

The only condition.... see above... sharpie, spokes?

Not running is the smartest thing for you to do.  There's no reason to hurt yourself more for this challenge.  We might even still talk to you.

Seriously, I'm sorry it's not better.

Did another 10 miles at GA pace tonight before heading out to dinner with friends.

that puts me at 110% for the challenge.

Crowny, sorry to hear you are injured. (Especially since you get to run in Banff)

Thanks for all the kind words folks.  Iced it when I got home.  Put on a wrap to compress it and elevated it.  Then slept with it elevated.  Swelling is down dramatically but it actually hurts worse today than it did the first day I twisted it.  Going to really rest it for the next few days to see if I can run Banff.  Never really expected to compete there, mainly because of the altitude, but I also don't want to DNS.  Last thing I want to do, but I'm also not about to risk permanent or serious injury for a fun race.  Today is the last day I'll be posting till Tuesday.

Thanks Cat.  For someone that is as competitive as I am, it was killing me not to reach that extra 1.5 miles, but things weren't feeling right and then my knees started to give me fits because I changed my run gait to account for the pain.  All in all, a not so smart workout.  Live and learn.
