Thanks all for the nutrition input. I've tried the Hammer Perpetum(?) but that doesn't seem to keep me from getting hungry. I like the idea of some "real" food on the bike too. I can eat anything on the bike it seems, what I haven't done enough of are long rides with a run after to see how that goes. I've never really experienced any stomach issues, which is not to say I don't sometimes have emergency potty stops but it has more to do with being to early in the morning or a lunch that was not conducive to running. I will for sure be doing some test work in the next 6ish weeks.

Good morning everyone!

Been a tough week for me training and spending time on BT!  Lot of people wanting to wrap things up before the fourth.  Plus training the new pup minimized my ability to get much volume.  But thats fine, I am enjoying it.

So who's racing this weekend?  I know we have a few!

For me I might do a 5K on Monday, other wise just going to get in a long bike on Saturday and run on Sunday and if I don't do the 5K on Monday I will probably do another longish ride!  I bought a new bike and had my fit redone and wow, much more comfortable and stronger, but it is different enough that I want some quality saddle time prior to my race in mid July!

It is a Trek Speed Concept.  It started as a 9.8, but we changed a few things, some lowered the cost, some brought it back up.

A guy I ride with just got one of those - it is sooo nice. Can't wait to hear how you like it. My LBS is primarily a Trek dealer so it may be on my radar someday.

So who's racing this weekend?  I know we have a few!

I am racing my first tri of the year just south of Buffalo, NY.  Swim is in Lake Erie and at last check the water temp is 68. Thankfully, I got my new wetsuit yesterday! I have some fairly high goals for the race so we'll see how it all goes.

I joined a challenge under the "Challenge Me" forum that coincides with the Tour de France. Obviously, it's a cycling challenge and it seems to be quite popular. I'd encourage any looking to up their time in the saddle to give it a whirl.

Me too. I just got invited to a neighborhood 5K at my YMCA, my 16 year old son is going to do it with me which will be good for him to get another 5K in before our family relay July 17.

Swam today and have a short bike ride on the plan, probably hop on the trainer. The husband and I are heading to Austin tomorrow for a day trip, looking forward to checking out the tri shops and the HUGE Whole Foods Laughing Saturday is a short run and OWS, Sunday a longish bike ride.

Tonight the two boys have their girlfriends over so Mama is making spaghetti with basil & vodka sauce and italian sausage - been cooking since 1:00. Hungry? Come on down!

Great catch Steve!  I used to do a lot of challenges in the off season!  Great way to meet people as well as motivation to reach a goal.  I liked them in the off season for the simple reason as it was a good time to focus on one discipline for the month.  The TDF challenge is always one of the more popular ones!

That is warmer than I would have guessed!  Good though that the suit came.  How is the fit?

I'm sure you will have a great race!

Thanks for the dinner invite, it sounds great! Smile  Unfortunately I can't make it!

2.6 mile race on Tuesday through a park.  It is a series of 5 runs.  First one is Tuesday.

Last year, I did one in 32:55.

2009 - First Race: 35:28; Second: 36:56; Third: 35:47

This year, I am hoping to do it in under 30 mins... I am in WAY better shape than last year... and let's not even talk about 2009.  Do you KNOW what pregnancy and then followed by mac 'n' cheese for dinner every night does to a body!?

Still giving the new seat some 'breaking in' grace. There is a saddle I want but would like to try it first and can't find a local shop that carries it. Two stores listed on the website don't have it in stock. I will ride this one a while longer since I do have the 30 day return policy and hope to make some minor tweaks to help. Thanks for asking. Comfort on the bike has been elusive.

I hear you. I eat perfect when I am pregnant and don't gain much weight but once the baby comes with the round the clock nursing there is LOTS of eating going on and most of it not good.

Man... it was like an alien blew up out of my stomach.  I am lovin' training for a triathlon.  I am thinking about trying for #2 in a year... but... do i REALLY want to go through that all again?  Can I stay in shape while PG?  Can I bounce back better next time?  How did you do it the (HOW many times?  You have 3? 4? 5? kids?)  I keep saying I want to be that PG woman running 5k's and stuff.

Yep, I did it 5 times! I have a midwife that is pretty darn strict about diet. I only gained 18 pounds with #5 and she was 9 pounds 3 ounces. Talk about ALL baby! I actually look awesome in my labor photos! LOL High protein, no sugar no processed foods only water etc. I bounce back quickly. I will admit I did lose it (or gain it) when I had 2 babies 16 months apart (#3 & #4). I had not weaned the older one and tandem nursed for 2+ years! Getting to the gym with two little babies was tricky and I definitely fell off the wagon on very little sleep for an extended period of time. However, it is totally worth it. Work hard, be disciplined and find a way to move your body that you are comfortable doing while pregnant - jogging, swimming, yoga, pilates etc. But in all honesty it is more about diet than anything.

I'm going to try for a long ride this Sunday.  Otherwise, I'm going to be at the pool chillin' with the family.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good luck to all who are racing

Ken, you have been here long enough to know that you can't tell us that you got a new bike, and then not post pictures. Don't make me report you to marma I've seen some of the new Speed Concepts at races, and they are beautiful. Definitely the nicest looking of the new breed of bikes.

Good luck and have fun to everyone racing!
