I finally put together the list of everyone's races.  I'm still missing a few people (and I didn't put in the races without dates or that were listed as maybes).  I need to talk to Shaun and figure out a better way to post this so we can update it.

kaburns1214 - 2013-01-19 2:51 PM I'm working on details for the 1/4 Marathon today (a race I RD in late March that benefits the Blazeman Foundation).  I'm trying to figure out what I want to do for AG awards.  Right now I'm thinking Head Sweats hats and very special cookies.  Any thoughts?

What kind of cookies....I used to eat very special cookies and recall liking them very much...which led to eating very special Doritos.

See we had very special brownies that led to special trips to the closest taqueria.

That's what I thought of also when I read about how special the cookies were, and that would definitely be interesting. If you did that, I bet you'd have record participation next year! He!!, I might come up and enter this time!

I on the other hand didn't even think of special cookies being special.

Scott - we also had special brownies, that lead to Jack in the Box.

Yah, this might need to be our road trip race meet up!

ccmpsyd - 2013-01-19 11:02 AM So I weighed myself today and it turns out that I have lost 5 lbs without trying. This is the lightest I have weighed since hs. Granted I have been more mindful of dietary habits, but i eat a lot, still drink beer etc. I feel good, my recent HM, was good, but i don't really want to lose more weight. Should I drink protein shakes or something else?

You're obviously not drinking enough!

I wish I had a problem of losing weight without trying... good for you though.

Those cookies are pretty cool.

The only thing I can think of is arm sleeves. A friend of mine got some at a race and I thought it was pretty cool and different.

Depending on the budget, a backpack with the race logo is always cool too.

cobratodd - 2013-01-19 10:58 AM For those who have tried both Infinit Nutrition and Ironman Perform, if either were offered on course of an IM, which would you prefer? I've read mixed reviews on Perform and that's all they have on course, but I'm trying to figure out if its worth it to be self sufficient and bring all my own fuel. I've ruled out Perpeteum from past experience on a HIM, and Accelerade doesn't do it for me either. Thanks for your thoughts

If I were you, I'd use what's available on the course (if you can tolerate it).  It just makes things so much easier.

Kelly - those custom cookies are super cute.  I would do something like that in addition to the hat/visor.  I saw the 1/4 marathon logo on FB and think it looks great.  Also, thank you for making the master list of races.  It's nice to see where everyone will be this season.

Yeah, I think I'm headed toward using what's on the course. On a different note, I just finished a 3:16:00 Z1 ride on the trainer - mind numbing to say the least. Trying to use up the Accelerade that I have, I consumed 20 oz of that and 20 oz of plain water - post ride my upper fronts to my legs were burning, and very sore, almost cramping. I had a net loss of almost 3 pounds (even with the two bottles), I only had an average of 158 watts because it was Z1. The legs are better now (1.5 hours after), so was it too little electrolytes? Too little water? Or am I just getting old? Thanks again for all your help.

Now I eat the fajitas and chorizo (of course, no gluten so that's a problem)!!!!  I was a vegetarian for almost a decade (around the time I really indulged in lots of very special brownies).  Beans, beans, tofu, beans.

All this talk about Mexican food, I went out for awesome buritos from El Rayo...now I am jonzing for some special cookies.

And Yes Kelly thank you very much for compiling the races. I thought of thanking you earlier but got caught up in the cookies.

Todd - I have noticed your posts - for those of us (me) who are new to this group this year, would you mind introducing yourself a little?

Hi, I'm Todd, and i have a problem, Im a tri-oholic, and i'm new here too, invited by Kelly, working with QT2 to train for Lake Placid; basicly a 42 year old age grouper in my 3rd year of doing triathlons. Started off in 398th place in a 450 person sprint, working hard to improve that by losing weight (50+ pounds) and training between raising my 6 and 9 year old boys and working. I live in CT and work in construction project management. I have a BS, and MS, LEED certified, lived in Dubai, and that's about it.

Hey! I thought we are all suppose to be eating healthier All this brownie, cookie, and mexican food talk is making me hungry. That and the wife has it on the Food Network.

Carrie, Hope your surgery went well.

Kelly, Thanks for putting up the list! It is cool to see where everyone will be.

Michele, you will be in my back yard in Manassas.

Matt, I thought about doing Monticello this year. You will have to let me know how it goes.

X10 thanks Kelly. It is cool to see where everyone will be this year. I know we all posted at the start of this thread our race schedule but I have a horrible memory. I forgot Christy & Larkin are doing Augusta - I'll plan on driving over to cheer (if I survive Tahoe the weekend before).

I am on day 20 of Whole30 and doing good. My pants are starting to feel baggy.

So we leave for Hawaii on the 14th of February. My husband (who has lost 10 pounds since Jan. 1st - without trying) says to me yesterday "I guess we ought to start doing situps if we are going to be in swim suits next month". Ah, ya think??? We probably should have been doing core work for the last 6 months!

I'm heading to the trails this morning for a long run. Last weeks trail run wiped me out. I'm hoping it was more nutrition than fitness/conditioning. My first race is going to be brutal.

Larkin - my inlaws live in Fairfax and we are always down there for Mothers day. I found that sprint last year as a way for me to get a little mothers day too! LOL

Almost forgot - thanks to Jen & Scott for the suggestion of hitting the reset button on the speed cadence sensor, that worked!!

Also - I swapped my seat out for a borrowed Adamo racing saddle. WOW what a difference!!! How come I didn't think of swapping saddles before? I've been miserable on mine for the last year.

For those that have used Adamo - I've looked at their website to figure out which one to order and it's confusing. Road, Racing, Tri, Time Trial.... not sure which one to get. Maybe stick with the racing since that's what I'm trying out now? Thoughts anyone?

Morning, all!  1:30 on the trainer.  I'm still working my way back from the illness (a little cough that shows itself some evenings).  It feels great to be back at it!  I'm still waiting on the new trainer.  It's been 5 days, WTH.

It's snowing here.  Looks like we're going to get quite a bit over the next few days.  Ew!  Sure makes me want to go jump in the pool.

cobratodd - 2013-01-19 7:57 PM Yeah, I think I'm headed toward using what's on the course.

To give you a comparison, I had a 3:30 ride and used almost 5 24 oz. bottles of fluid.

3 lbs for a 3 hours ride is a lot (think of this way, you were loosing, and not replacing, about 16 oz of fluid per hour.  If you just look at the numbers general, you lost about 88oz of fluid over 3 hours (40 oz of fluid you drank plus 48 oz of fluid weight lost).  That's about 29 oz of fluid per hour.  Based on those rough numbers you're looking at just over one 24 oz bottle of fluid an hour.

Just because your watts and your HR are relatively "low" doesn't mean you're not going to loose (and need to replace) fluid and electrolytes.

The racing and the time trial are fairly similar.  If the racing feels good, go with it.  If you are demoing saddles, I would also demo the Cobb.  Similar features to the Adamo but a little friendlier over the course of 4-5-6 hour rides.
