Veteran 291 Charlotte, NC | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Thanks Cash, good to know. I just ordered my first road bike. Got in on a good deal, here is the link http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=106063&start=1 I ordered the Garda. Should be delivered in 5 business days, then to the LBS for final assembly and tune up. I may be riding by the end of next week, we'll see. Here is a link to the details. Honestly, I don't know what 1/2 of it means, but it was a great price nonetheless. http://www.bmr-bicycles.com.au/bikes/javelin.pdf

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Gygy, is your seat really that much higher than your handlebars? Thats one aggressive riding position. And if you are flexible enough to ride it aero in that postition, Papahawk is one lucky man.... wink. |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Hey PapaHawk, nice race. I love the details. I like how you say you know how Charleston is, umm no I don't. Never been to your fine state. It is one however that I would like to visit. Maybe some October. I lived in Houston for 2 years and hated the heat, humidity and bugs. So I will visit during one of the 2 weeks a year you dont have that. Yes I am a California weather wimp. I do hear you have some very fine homes to look at down there. And women with Southern accents can wrap me around their little finger. If you can run for an hour in the 170's that is probably close to your threshold. You are not quite anaerobic yet, but close to it. 190's you sound like you were definately over the line. I like how you could suck it up the last mile and keep going. That was great mental toughness. I like to race by heart rate, not pace. Meaning I set a goal heart rate and run at that heart rate no matter what. So that means I slow down for bridges and hills but keep the heart rate the same. The guys who race by pace, try to keep the same pace on the bridges, their rate rate spikes way into the anaerobic phase, and then they have to walk. You did it the right way, let them speed out too fast and they blow up, and you and Gygy pass them when they run out of energy and you two keep on going. |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed http://www.teamoregon.com/publication/online/wizard.php I go to that link above, and plug in recent race data. It then gives me goal heart rates for different distances, both training and racing. |

Veteran 171 Charlotte, NC | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Thanks Cash! - yep- it was a good race - tough at the end ...but I was so close I just sucked it up and pressed on. I hear ya about being spoiled by the Cali weather..what part are you in N or S. Cali....I have had a few trips out there in Nor Cal...loved it and the weather was awesome!! I remember walkin across the GG bridge over into Marin County and watched the bikers climb those hills along the hills/cliff's over there..your talkin some serious hill climbin man!! Charleston is a great city - lot's of southern charm and history there....and yep..those southern ladies will make you pause....I know..I married one! I am not from Charleston though,...close..I am from Wilmington,NC...so..just drive along the coast north of Charleston. But - back to Cali - I stayed out in Sacamento for about a month back in 2002 - drove to Tahoe and San Fran.....then on my last visit I stayed in San Fran...amazing city..so much to see and do...drove up the coast on PCH 1 and checked out SAnta Cruz and Half Moon Bay...sweet surf!! and the views are to die for!! It was a lot of fun and it was very cool that it all came together exactly as I had envisioned it. The participants had a set amount of time to transition. The first one was REALLY long... enough time to dry off and change... but we still had people lose time on the bike. Why? Because they actually took showers. Showers? Helllooooooo... you are going to be sweating on a bike and run... suck it up and smell like chlorine .

He's known me for a very long time and believes that I have a mischevious smile and that I'm often up to no good. I enjoy wiggling my nose at him from time to time just to make him bust out laughing. Usually when he's trying to focus on some boring conversation and I place myself in his line of sight. |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed 20.44 miles today. Temp 75 when finished. Now 93 degrees. Started at crack of stupid ( 5 30 am up at 4 30 am.) Four hours if you count time waiting for stop lights and eating shot blocks from the stash. Birds found and made off with an entire box of fig newtons. |

I'm heading to the beach with my best friend this weekend, and it is supposed to warm up, it better, this is my annual vacation away from "mom duties." You better hide those newtons a little better next time. |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Hope the massage worked Gygy. Yay for plumbers. Had some minor stuff that needed to be fixed in 3 bathrooms. Done for 98 dollars including parts. A friend taught me a trick. Don't use the plumbers you find in the phone book or the ones that advertise on TV. They will charge 100 dollars just to show up at the front door and charge 3 times as much. Instead find a land lord who has lots of rental units. Ask him for the number of the guy he uses. Those plumbers don't have to pay for advertising or wear uniforms and drive vans with the name of the company on the side. The handyman plumber just wears clean jeans and his 8 year old pick up truck. And frankly the handyman guy is cheaper, gets here faster and doesnt mess up the house as much. Might do a spin class later today. Might not. We need cuter instructors like Mila. Oh and this class is at 4 30 pm. No crack of stupid for me to ride a spin bike. |
