let me know if you want to get together for a trail run sometime.  Or a brick.  Or whatever.

How about a full rack of Baby-back ribs totally slathered in bbq sauce.  The ram has decent ribs.

Can you tell that I am hungry right now?

Ha, funnily enough we ate at the Ram last night.  I had an Ahi burger which was pretty good.  I like their beer too.  The burger-beer brick is my favorite training session

Sorry I missed your post last night.  I think I was doing one of those half-asleep BT skims I know we all do.

Race report is here.

Swim was horrible, but it got better.  Yesterday was a fabulous day and I was outside with the kids, so I have lots of BT to catch up on.

kirih - 2009-06-26 3:01 PM Dunno if this will help, but i try to get the blister drained as fast as possible on the bottom of my feet cause the skin there regenerates pretty quickly. To do this:
Soak in warm tub, get the skin nice and loose... follow up with Burts Bees peppermint foot lotion. Feels wonderful.

thanks for the tip

I hope everyone is doing well.  Congrats Debbie on a great first tri!

I raced on Sunday and did ok.  My swim was not as good as I had hoped.  I think I got used to the wetsuit feeling.  This race was tri suit only.  :-(

Anyway here is the report if anyone is interested.

I'm loving running recently.  I broke 25 mins over 5k this month (super-slow for many of course), which was one of my goals for '09, and have become able to comfortably run 10k without stopping for the first time since my early 20s.  Feels good.  This time last year I could barely run 2 miles without stopping in a panting mess.

That's awesome.  The sub 25min 5k is one of my goals this year as well.  I haven't had time to find a race yet but I'm on the lookout.  :-)

I wish it had been too warm for wetsuits in my race!

I read your race report.  You did good.

Thanks - believe me I was hoping for my wetsuit.  But I had already done 2 swims this year in 60 degree water temps so it was nice to be in warm water.  I just wish it was 74. That would have been perfect.  LOL

Congrats on the races last weekend and congrats on a great half year!  Seems like we've all been through all kinds of stuff from illness, injuries, life in general etc.  Everybody seems to be making it the best they can and you've all accomplished a lot.  Proud of y'all

Sorry for the absence lately.  My grandmother has taken a turn for the worse and we're basically just waiting now.  My dad seems to be doing ok for now, but it's getting hard on him.

I would love a sub 25 min 5k!  I did a 31(or was it 32) min 5k trail run last fall.  the trail run was quite hilly plus I took a brief detour and had to double back. Maybe I am not that far from it

Ok, really really sorry for the long absence.  It's been a crazy week... two weeks?  I don't know anymore.

My Grandmother did pass away last Friday.  It was a blessing actually.  The cancer had come back strong and she was in terrible pain.  All the funeral arrangements were on Monday, I had to travel for work on Tuesday, the wife and I went to visit her grandparents in Iowa immediately after that.  Drove 12 hours back on Sunay, found out the father in law has prostate cancer yesterday, and had a pretty sour staff meeting this morning.

We even tried to lighten things up by going to the midnight showing of the new Harry Potter movie last night, but we both thought it kinda sucked.

Bleh..

First race of this season on Sunday and it's really happening this time!  We are driving up tomorrow to Chelan WA.  Supposed to hit a high of 99 up there tomorrow... but cool down a few degrees by Sun.  Still going to be a scorcher though.

This race (Chelanman) was my first ever race last year.  The pressure is on to beat last year's times!

Goals: (swim 800m, bike 13.1mi, run 3.1 mi).

Swim - last year 1:17/100... I would be happy to stay around there or maybe push 1:15 this year. I have done very little swimming this season but at the same time I feel fitter in general.

Bike - last year 19.3 mph... Really want to beat the 20 mph average mark this time!

Run - last year 10:05 miles... this is where I want to see the most improvement.  My main goal is not to walk.  If I do that I should be able to break 9 min/ mile which will be OK... 8:30 or so would be awesome.

Transitions - should be able to get through these a lot quicker.

Can't wait to finally get the season going.  Have a good weekend everyone.

Sorry to hear about all of the crummy news.  I hope things improve soon and that your father-in-law finds successful treatment.  Life is always throwing curve balls.  Sometimes working out is the best remedy - at least for an hour or so it can all go away.  :-)

My race went well.

I don't know the splits yet but I beat my overall time from last year by a couple of minutes.  I thought it would have been more, but it looked like everyone was slower this year.  The overall winning time was 9 mins slower than last year's... I have a feeling the swim was a little long.

I'll post a race report as soon as the times go up online.

Hope everyone else who raced had fun.
