Master 1420 Victoria, BC | Subject: RE: Beth and Yanti's Newest Manatees - FULL Ohhh totally jealous you got your teeth scraped! I have to wait another whole 5 months to get mine done again. ;-( Just a little clarification - we're not "independent" in Canada ... the Queen is still our Head of State and we are still a part of the Commonwealth. Although the Queen doesn't do much (mostly ceremonial) the Governor General (ie: the Queen's representative when the Queen is not in Canada) does basically have the final word over our parliament and she is the head of our army. And we like her. She's from Haiti, is gracious and elegant, and has a good head on her shoulders (unlike our Prime Minister, who is from Alberta and does not have a good head on his shoulders and generally bumbles around like an idiot - there's a reason we call him George Bush Junior). Canada Day is Canada's birthday - 142 years ago yesterday the British North America Act was signed - uniting the four Eastern provinces (ie: British Colonies) into one new country under the Commonwealth Flag. And a little piece of trivia - we flew the Union Jack until the early 60's, at which time we adopted our own flag (as you know it now). And that's your history lesson for the day, kids! ;-) |

Veteran 209 Wyoming | Subject: RE: Beth and Yanti's Newest Manatees - FULL Lynn - I am no expert but I think the bike looks super COOL! Great race report, too. I might be able to do an Oly tri someday?? Hey...just found out that I am coming to San Diego/Mission Beach for a few days at the end of this month...how far are you away from the MB boardwalk? It would be awesome to get to meet a fellow Manatee! Yanti - great RR! Loved the pics and all. Bill - WTG on the swimming! Keep it up. Let us know when you decided on a race...I definitely think it is good to set a goal. Life has been super busy this week. We are putting in some new solar wells for the cattle and the project is a co-op with USDA so they had a deadline of yesterday. I spent a bunch of time on the road getting parts and supplies. I have also been working on replacing and repairing our son's wrecked pickup. Guess he is going to take the insurance money and get something new....we bought back the salvage pickup from the insurance and will fix it for a ranch pickup...so I spent a few hours yesterday at wrecking/salvage yards looking a pickup cabs and doors! Cathy - so sorry to hear about your son's accident, but wonderful that he is ok! We haven't had to deal with anything like that but I have had my worries when they have ventured out on icy roads, etc. I am wanting to decide on my next tri. It will probably be one a few hours north of here on August 8 - it will be relatively small. I had thought about doing the Tri for the Cure in Denver but not sure I am ready to be amongst 3000+ participants!! YIKES! That seems like an awful lot of people!!!! There is another one I have been looking at in Montana on August 15. It is close to where my 20yo ds is working for the summer and I would also have the opportunity to see an old friend...BUT...it is a 2 day drive and I would end up gone from home about a week. Now that I have the 4 day trip to San Diego, I am not sure I can get away with another week off! Back to work! Sharie |

However, if you'd like to swim in my swimmin' hole I'd meet you there if we could work out the time/day. It's in La Jolla and doesn't take me as long to get to and it's just 15 minutes or so north from Mission Beach. PM me with the particulars and hopefully we'll be able to meet up and get a photo and perhaps a nice swimmy in. :-)

I may be MIA for a while - I'm exhibiting at a HUGE Organic & Sustainability Festival this weekend and it starts tomorrow afternoon and doesn't end until Sunday night. And my Monday is booked solid (with non-Festival related stuff) ... so ... wish me luck - I'm hopeful this Festival will find me lots of new clients and be a big success for me. If I can't find clients here - I can't find them anywhere. And everyone have a great 4th of July, and a great weekend! |

Everyone did so well!!! Definitely try to get around to them if you haven't already. Bethie Love, so good to see you posting again. There will always be those times and your grace and strength shine through even more so then. I'm back in Jakarta with my folks and my, what a culture shock! All of it! Hopefully I will settle down soon. One day at a time, and just observe, assess, and accept. Yanti - take care as you adjust to the latest leg in your journey |

Ask and you shall receive!! Here it is and it's in my garage. I need to buy shifters for it and it's going to take some time to get used to riding in aerobars, but for a nice flat race I think it will work out great. I'd been considering a tri bike but would have only bought a low end starter with this one it's a higher end bike and has higher end components, Dura Ace, and while it's used (500 miles) and a couple of years old it's a great way for me to see what tri-bikes are like. It's really pretty, too. I'll try and get a better picture with more light because this photo doesn't quite do it justice. Also decided to do a local community 50 mile bike ride tomorrow for my 3:15 scheduled bike ride. DH will ride, too so should be fun. Hope you all have a great 4th of July.

Veteran 209 Wyoming | Subject: RE: Beth and Yanti's Newest Manatees - FULL WOWEE ZOWEE Lynn! Awesome bike! It looks mighty fine in this picture, can't imagine it looking better! No big plans here for the 4th. I did get a nice easy bike ride in last evening. Planned a run today but it rained most of the day and the place was a sea of mud. I will do some tomorrow as it is surely time to get back to work. Hey...do you all think it would be too soon to do another sprint Tri on July 18? After talking to ds tonight I am definitely planning on the Seeley Lake MT tri on August 15, but woudn't mind getting in another pool tri before that. The ows at Seeley shouldn't be bad...it is along the shore....and pretty short. Blessings to all Sharie |

Master 3479 Utah | Subject: RE: Beth and Yanti's Newest Manatees - FULL OK, super random request--but I have faith that our fearless leaders (or other super duper manatee teammate) will help me out. I am in desperate need of a new avatar. Prior to the site reset a few months ago, I had a pretty sparkly pink star. Somehow it was deleted, and I didn't have it saved on my computer. I would really like a sparkly red star this go-round. (My University of Utah Utes always wear red. So shouldn't I wear red, too?) Is there any chance that there is one out there, just floating around, looking for a new home? Maybe one that has been recently glitter-fied by the TinkerBeth? Pleeease? I've been a good manatee all year, and I promise to eat my veggies. |

Nice bike Lynn!. Don't worry, if the bike fits you, getting used to the aerobars won't take long at all. I bet you feel faster already. Happy 4th of July everybody! Art |

And I wish I were healthy...I'd so be at the MG marathon with you guys. La is my second home and I go back as often as I can. I think H and I are shooting for a marathon in Nola in 2011. He'll be gone for most of 2010. Sharie- which sprint are you looking at for the 18th? I'll be at the sprint tri in Denver that day as a spectator. And I read your RR and wow.....just awesome! And I'm loving your new avatar. Is tri for the Cure still open? That was my triathlon and I thought it had sold out. But don't worry about the 3000 ppl, if you read the RR, it sounds the greatest group of ladies to compete with! |
