ironannekidd - 2012-01-18 6:34 AM Dee! I just read that you could get a major snowstorm today and tomorrow. Bundle up. Stay safe. Go sledding.

I hope to take Hanna to run around in our neighborhood park this morning before everything turns back to rain.  It is still dark out right now.  I will call in to work in a little while and see if anyone is canceling their appointments.

Good Morning!  It is snowy here!  A whole 5 inches or so stacked up on the deck and outside table!

That is a lot for where I live (elevation 6 ft).  Of course there is a good bit more snow up in the hills around us.  The dogs were so funny this morning.  They think the snow is great (so do I).  Even little Peanut had a blast.  She is so short, she has to kind of jump thru it instead of walk!

How much snow are they calling for? Does the area have the resources to deal with that much snow? In the south an inch or two of snow can shut things down because they don't have the plows or salt for the roads.

In this area of the state, we don't have plows.  They do spread a little gravel/dirt at the intersections sometimes.  But it is also saying that it will turn to rain during the day at least down in the flatlands.  Up in the hills (500 + feet) people will mostly just sit tight.

Wow, Dee be careful out there! That must be the storm that is headed our way. We got a little snow early this morning, but we're supposed to have a ton by tomorrow night. Finally! We've been in a winter drought. Some of the professional snowboard and ski competitions have been cancelled and/or postponed due to the utter lack of snow.

I'll check back in later. Have a good day, all!

If you're out on the roads be careful. They will probably be dangerous as it is, and if people don't know how to drive in the conditions it is even more dangerous out there. Sounds like a good day for a book and a nap.

That would be nice!  We will see.  DH went to work this morning.  He said the worst of it of course was the other drivers.  LOL of course he always thinks that!

I agree with the other drivers thing. My worry is never getting to work, it is always getting home from work if the weather gets worse.

Well it makes a difference that I live in the flats and work in the flats.  And it is only about 6 miles to work.

LOL and they even have showers!  Of course I don't know if I would then have the energy to work  ....  minor details!

However, it IS something to consider later in the year when I have built up my mileage (since I would also have to run home) and it is light later in the day.

2:30 for the injection (eek), then the MRI right after, so probably 2:45 or 3:00.

Well the first 1/2 of my day has canceled.  So far the afternoon appointments are staying.  But I had to call everyone directly because the main phone at the YMCA is down.  So I am not for sure that they are open.  However, they very rarely close, so I imagine that at least someone is there.

It rained a little but there are still inches of snow.  The wind really picked up.  Right now, there is not precipitation but some wind.  Temp is up to 37*F.  It is probably just slushy out but the snow is not melting very quickly.

If you didn't know, there is rarely a dull moment at my house.

This morning I went outside to feed the horses at about 5:45. I got out to the barn and only 1 horse, our 30 year old mare, was standing there waiting to be fed, and the gate going into the pasture was open. I called and whistled for Pandora, the horse I've only had for a few weeks, and I couldn't hear her, and being dark I couldn't really see her. I fed Poke, then ran in the house and grabbed a flashlight and ran back the hallway in my muddy barn boots telling Donnie I needed him outside FAST! I got back outside and Pandora was standing by the gate. WHEW! I took her over to the other stall and fed her, then stood there for a minute so my heart could put itself back inside my chest. If Poke wasn't there, I'd have looked in the yard, or called my SIL to see if she was down there. If her horses get out they usually end up in my yard, and vice versa. When I thought Pandora was missing I had no idea where to start looking. I need to be more vigilant about checking the gate!

No, there is never a dull moment at your house.

Thanks for the hand-holding! I am home, all is well. I won't know the radiologist's reading for a while, but they gave me a copy of the scans on a CD. I'm pulling it up on my computer right now.
