Veteran 202 Columbia, KY | Subject: RE: QUEEN ZIP & KathyG - CLOSED kaqphin - 2009-02-23 8:41 PM Just got back from the bike shop and Im more confused that ever... At the price point Im looking at I can have an: Orbea Diva... Colnago CLX (which the guys think is a better option if it fits of course!) OR.. they think I should consider the Argons which are great specs at my price point but unfortunatley I just dont look at them and go 'WOW'
They are all carbon frames, mid level or greater groupsets... decent wheels etc... and they will build to spec anyway... so confused! Well, not to be disagreeable, Helen, but I just saw the Diva in an ad in Runner's World, and my heart definitely skipped a beat!!! But I know fit is "most" important, and I have never been on either! |

Master 1591 San Diego, CA | Subject: RE: QUEEN ZIP & KathyG - CLOSED aquagirl - 2009-02-23 4:04 PM Can anyone give me any ideas how best to recover from the sufferfest? Normally I have no issues with running 20 k....but ouch I am sore after yesterday. What should my week look like in terms of training?? Given that I have been ill? I really want to recover well....... My two cents. I would say ease back into training. I would stick with swimming and the bike for the first half of the week. Try to get some time in a hot tub or some easy yoga in. On Wednesday or Thursday I would see how I was feeling and consider a slow run over the weekend only if I was feeling up to it. When I'm really sore it's generally my body telling me I need a break. Listen to yours.

Expert 687 Cambridge, MA | Subject: RE: QUEEN ZIP & KathyG - CLOSED Quads are still a little sore from Sunday and need at LEAST a few more days off the foot. I planned on an easy swim today to loosen everything up a bit, but just found out this morning that my boyfriend, Jonah, who some of you met this weekend got laid off today. CRUD! If my foot didn't feel so messed up (I'll go see the doc if it doesn't improve tomorrow or the next day) I'd convince him to go for a little jog with me to get rid of some of his inevitable anger and worry... but that's not happening. Maybe I could break out the massage table and try some one-legged bodywork? That'd be some relief for him and good core balance exercise for me... soooo don't want to be at work right now... but glad to have a good job... Edited by running4beer 2009-02-24 1:46 PM |

YOu have plenty of time to train for your HIM and compromising your health will not get you anywhere you want to go. Remember muscles get stronger when they recover after the suffering, not during- otherwise we would all be stronger as we race.aquagirl - 2009-02-23 6:04 PM Can anyone give me any ideas how best to recover from the sufferfest? Normally I have no issues with running 20 k....but ouch I am sore after yesterday. What should my week look like in terms of training?? Given that I have been ill? I really want to recover well....... Rest, and lots of it. Followed with lots of water to flush the junk out of your system...stretching, pilates or yoga. Maybe some light swimming and an EASY trainer ride if you feel up to it but nothing hard! I agree here - let your body tell you what it's ready for. |

They had one in the shop customised with pink accents... tires... saddle and bar tape.... the saddle and bar tape were TOO MUCH but I didnt mind the accents.... Might consider doing something like that so mine is an original if thats the way I go! |

OR.. they think I should consider the Argons which are great specs at my price point but unfortunatley I just dont look at them and go 'WOW'
They are all carbon frames, mid level or greater groupsets... decent wheels etc... and they will build to spec anyway... so confused! I found buying a bike incredibly stressful and confusing. In the end, I just bought the cheapest one with aero bars, which in my neck of the woods meant at Cervelo p2sl. You are lucky because I imagine you have Cycle Guy to help you. The only real important thing is that you feel super comfortable on it. If the look of the bike is bothering you, you can always get it painted... haha thats one way to go... Im lucky because cycle guy has a relationship with the shop too which means I have one by default and they will treat mereally well! My current bike was bought because when I was looking 5 years ago the Trek dealer were the nicest to me and wasnt so scary... But now I know the frame is too big... and I NEVER liked the look of the bike... plus a lot of the little fit issues I have will go away once I get something that is the right size.. PLus...FREE SPEED!
It will probably be the next month that I make a decision and put down a deposit...then another 1-2 months before I can pay off the rest... but Ive made a good first start! |

Oh the Diva's are lovely...and reviewed incredibly well.. they dont come with a full groupset as they seem to mix an match with generic components which I would definatley change if I went that way... They do have the uncommon factor going for them here too!
But I trust the guys in my shop when they say Colnago would be a better way to go... although I have to check the warranty on the frames too... especially being carbon! |

Pro 4828 The Land of Ice and Snow | Subject: RE: QUEEN ZIP & KathyG - CLOSED running4beer - 2009-02-24 2:38 PM Mina soooo sorry about Jonah's job....sucks MAJOR!!! Quads are still a little sore from Sunday and need at LEAST a few more days off the foot. |
