good morning ghoulies.

im not sure if this is good news or bad.

i took my bike to the LBS on Tuesday for a tune up.

no problems w the bike except the screw that held the water bottle holder kept coming out.  nothing major, but a pain when it would do it during a ride and the cage would start to rattle.

i got a call from the LBS saying that inside the tube where the screw went it was stripped.

JAMIS the maker of my bike was willing to cover this under full warranty and get this....

GIVE ME A BRAND NEW their TOP OF THE LINE HIGHEST QUALITY FULL CARBON FRAME (mine is full carbon already but this will be the new 2010 frame) as a REPLACEMENT, TOTALLY FREE.

i know SHUT UP!!!!

thing is, they have to dismantle my bike, ship it to Jamis, have them replace the new frame, then they have to ship it back to the LBS and they have to put my bike back together - so on the one hand i will probably be w/out my bike at least for the next three-four weeks, bad timing since i would've been amping up my training for my May tris.  though im paid up for spinning 3 1/2 hrs a week for the next 7 weeks anyways

....but then on the other hand....

a small price to pay to get a NEWER HIGH QUALITY FULL CARBON FRAME.

all for a silly/inconsquential stripped thread.

GET OUT THE DOOR DEE!!!

Just got back from 9 miles. It was rainy and breezy and a bit cool. It took me about 5 miles to get in a groove, but it's done. It would have been a little over 9 miles but the family was coming up the road at 8.9 miles, as soon as I hit 9 I jumped in the truck to get out of the rain.

A quick snack, then a shower and the boy and I are off to the Y.

I hope everyone is making it out the door for their runs today.  I just got back from mine.  And I already swam this morning too.

I'm going to rest for a few hours and then head out for my first outdoor ride of the year!  Woohoo!

Afternoon Ghoulies!  Got a nice swim in this morning followed by some sauna time.  Then knocked off the grocery store, drug store and PetSmart.  I just finished boiling eggs for the week's b'fasts, and for once I didn't forget they were on the stove and boil them to oblivion. Now have to cook chicken for the carni's. They live a charmed life.  In fact, the only one living a more charmed life than my cats has to be Stacie. Cool

Gotta tell you about the scenery at the pool today.  As I left the women's locker room a guy walked past me towards the pools.  He had on TAN speedos.  TAN!!! And, they were kinda droopy in the rear (fortunately I only had a rear view.)  I swear it looked like he was wearing my grandma's panties.  Thankfully he went to the warmer pool so I didn't have to have another viewing.

Very nice. I bet the next bike you buy (not that you'll need one anytime soon) will be a Jamis.

Today was my first bike ride with the crew from the LBS. I've been wanting to go out with them for a while now, but life can be one conspiratorial SOB. I'm really glad I went though. There are some serious studs that come out and ride and everyone was really cool.

Several of them went on past the point where I turned around to a popular 7 mile road that has something like 2,000ft elevation gain. I won't be doing that hill tomorrow, but I WILL be doing it soon!

It was a very nice ride though. The hills are all nice and green, which is great because in three or four months they'll be B R O W N. I felt like I had a nice mix of warming up, hammering it for a while, riding steady for a bit, and then hammering some hills towards the end just for fun. It was my longest ride ever by quite a bit, and I'm looking forward to some longer ones.

P.S. I'm at 60 miles for the month now. 165 may be a bit ambitious but I'm gonna do my best to get there!

I heard that about this group.  The one guy everyone keeps talking about is some stud in a blue jersey on a Specialized Tarmac.

I've had several moments on those long runs where I've wished I would see anyone I know so I could flag down a ride.  Good job getting 9 done in the rain.

I still have 200 to get in this month big guy! All the rain this weekend isn't helping. It is supposed to be clear and warm all week though.

Then may your week be full of blissful miles spent in the saddle Ann! My next ride will be Monday and the next one scheduled after that is Saturday. Then again, I'm taking a few days off work while my wife rehabs from her surgery so I'll probably try to sneak in a few extra credit workouts while the short people are in school and she's resting.

When is your wife's surgery?

Tuesday morning. She's having a spinal stimulator implanted, which means they're going to run some wires up next to her spinal cord which are in turn attached to a battery/control unit (about the size of a Snapple lid) which is placed under the skin in her back. I keep telling her that she's going to be a robot, but I don't think she finds it funny. It'll make her laugh eventually...

My .02, this is definitely good news. Yes, it sucks that you're without your own bike for a few weeks, but you should have the new one in PLENTY of time to get acquainted before the May races. Enjoy the new road rocket, and make sure you take plenty of pics!

BTW, is there any way the LBS has a bike you can rent/borrow once or twice a week until the new one arrives?

Way to go Ann! Good timing with the family coming up right about 9 miles there. I've got 4.5 on tap for today, which I will need to sandwich between some house cleaning. MIL is coming to town Thursday and I need to make sure the place doesn't look like a bomb went off.

Hey Ghoulies. I had a crappy run today and all over feel so tired I could just sink into the earth and be swallowed up. I hope it is just a day and not that I am coming down with something.

I think I may take tomorrow off and do some shopping chores that I didn't get done this weekend. I WILL talk to you all tomorrow.

ironannekidd - 2010-03-14 9:11 AM GET OUT THE DOOR DEE!!!

Thank you Ann Laughing   I did my 8.1 miles (my long steady run) and am very pleased with my pacing.  After a cool down and shower, DH and I went out to eat with VERY pregnant DD and son-in-law.  Lots of fun!  The food was delish and we all had dessert.  yummm
