Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official ThreadSounds like everyone had a great day...well I guess I am the glass half empty guy. Really rough one for me. Had a great swim but was having stomach issues right away on the bike and just never got comfortable. Was feeling ok coming through Verona on the second loop. Hit that big downhill with about 10 miles to go and came to the intersection that had a giant pothole, hit it and blew my front trispoke. I had lost my tool to cut off a tire earlier so I was forced to wait for tech. A race official called for tech and said they were on there way. 45 min later, they showed and got me back going. I was out of nutrition and my stomach was getting worse. Run was pretty much a light jog and a walk fest. I felt like I had the legs but my stomach would not let me go. Struggled in at 14:42, only a few hours slower than I was expecting. The only ray of sunshine is that all the stomach issues saved my legs and today I feel great. Did a little light jogging around the hotel before jumping in the car for the ride home. Great job to everyone though, it was a perfect day out there. |
