April's totals:
Bike:34h 11m 55s  - 533.53 Mi
Run:9h 00m 10s  - 53.21 Mi
Swim:10h 00m  - 35700 Yd
Strength:10m
Physical Therapy:2h 50m
Stretching:30m

Run injury totally cramped my style. But oh well, it is what it is and I'm moving again (somewhat), so it's all good. Still have much to be thankful for, so I try not to whine. But I really really really want to run more!! (WHINE!)

April's totals:
Bike:18h 41m 54s  - 347.3 Mi
Run:17h 41m 16s  - 116.04 Mi
Swim:17h 47m  - 38350 Yd
Strength:3h 50m
Yoga:1h 20m

Highlights for me are 1) getting back to running and racing, 2) a reduction in my 100 swim times for the first time in I don't know how long (and I won't point out they are still the slowest in the group) and 3) a surprising increase in my FTP after this week's set of tests.   I'm stoked!

Quite an exciting month for me with 26.2 of those run miles at my dream race.  Looks like I have some work to do on the bike and swim.  Looking forward to it!

Back from my first race of the season.  It wasn't my day, but I did the best I could with the issues that I had.

Everything will be in the RR.

Aside from the issues - I did have some good points! PR'd in the Bike Avg speed for IronGirl (even though the course was shortened, but I did have better avg speed), did way better than I expected. PR'd in both transitions times (for IronGirl, not just sprints...this is due to the LONG run to transition), and I finished with a Heel-Click Photo! :-)

Hope all the other racers had a much better day than I did! :-) Yay - My first bad race. Whoot! I'll ROCK the next one! :-)

EDIT: Got my results - I'm confused because they put my T2 as 5:12, and I know for a FACT it's not that. They seem they added 4 minutes from my RUN time to the T2, because I wasn't *that* fast on the run.   Should I care? Or just the overall time. I'm a nitpik...I did T2 in 1:17 damn it...it's embarrassing to have 5:17 under my name! lol.

Wah!  I read this earlier and meant to reply but got distracted.  And then you edited all the good stuff.

Way to keep a good attitude, DJ, we all have disappointing races from time to time.  They make us stronger and we learn so much from them.  Getting clocked in the head during the swim and getting a migraine from it before even starting the bike would derail many athletes.  You are to be commended for keeping at it and getting it done!  I'm proud of you!

Hey all!  I have been a little MIA for a while.  I guess I don't always know what to say since y'all seem to know each other so well.  Anyway, I had a 60 mile bike ride this morning that went so much better than I anticipated.  I have a little less than 4 months until IM Louisvilee and starting to get very, very nervous.

I am only a few weeks behind you with IM WI and I haven't done a 60 mile ride yet.  Just stick to your plan and you'll be fine.  How is the nutrition on the bike and the run coming?

Awesome, girl!  Way to get that ride done.

Like Suzy, I am a few weeks after you and sitting here with a long ride of 35.  On the trainer, no less.  uh. oh.

Kyla's right, don't be shy, we are equal opportunity gabbers.  The only way we'll get to know you better is if you post.  OH, and it'd be cool if you could put up an avatar!

Where is Erica???  Erica-hope your final project is going well.

Where is Barry???  I hope he is weathering the tornado storms safely...isn't he in Alabama?  Yikes.

I knew April was going to be a slow month with 2 weeks away from bike/pool, but it ended up being even slower than I expected.   Hitting only 7100 meters in the pool for two months running has me a little worried with my first oly approaching (June 19), but worst case I figure I can swim as fast (slow) as I did in this race last year.

Bike:9h 35m 30s  - 183.7 Mi
Run:8h 54m 30s  - 57.35 Mi
Swim:6h 00m  - 7100 M

Rachel, go to settings at the very top of this page (there's a little wrench), then click on profile image.  you will have a prompt that let's you browse your computer for an image.  if the image is too big, you can size it down using webresizer.com

give it a try!

Doing races instead of long weekend rides cuts down on the mileage, but lol most swim distance in awhile.

Still don't have any tri's scheduled after Rev3, guess I should get on that sometime.

April's totals:
Bike:26h 08m 57s - 446.21 Mi
Run:11h 02m 19s - 76.51 Mi
Swim:5h 19m - 15000 M

well, you can keep on lurking and not say anything and that would suck, for you and me because i like to talk.  but just ask away and i think you'll feel at home pretty quick.  remember, there are no stupid questions.  just  stupid people that ask questions.      ha.  one of the best espn ads ever!

yeah, if you're out at 60 milers now you're in setting yourself up nicely for the long rides to come.  what plan are you using or did you get suckered into do you have a coach?

and i know l'ville is tt start and the majority is downriver, so its a little girl im swim... but you still might want to get in the pool at some point!!!

Looking at the results, it looks like alot of people have the Bike and T2 times all messed up.

1st race of the year done now. Congrats.

fwiw, girl from out team won the race today, and my coach was 7th, and another girl on team was 16th.

They are all probably hammered on the strip right now somewhere. 8 or 9 of them are done there.

I've done races where it can take days or more to get times figured out -- sometimes it's the waves, or the transitions or whatever. Give it some time and see if they work it out!

Trevor, congrats on the 3K swim! And I HIGHLY recommend getting outside to ride if you can. I've been lucky to do it twice over the last two weeks (had some sprinkles here and there yesterday) and it is so good for the psyche.

Today we had the 1st annual Enchanted Forest Century ride. Not a lot of participants this year since they got a late start, but wanted to support our local events.

Temp started at 37 and wind was 4mph NNE. but that soon changed we got to Springfield with the wind at our backs  I realized we were going to have fun on the way back when  I was riding around 20mph going up hill. When we got to Springfield the wind had picked up to 12mph with 20mph gusts. As me and another gentleman started back the the fun really began we started fighting the 20mph WNW wind with 30mph gust he had fallen behind so we just fought the wind riding long hills not to steep but constant. It wasn't until the last gust that finally beat me to a pulp felt like I was in the ring with Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson. So I had the support vehicle pick me still at 62miles still had 40 miles to go. None of the participants finished the Century.

I hope everyone else had a better ride, run, or swim then I did.

Hi, all.  I am still around and lurking a bit, but I don't really have a ton of time to post anything.  I thought I would hop on for a quick second and give an update.  I finally finished my 19-page contract due Wednesday, and now I'm working on my 32 page Patent Law exam due Friday (where is Doug when you really need him?).  Besides those, I only have 2 in class exams next Tuesday and the Tuesday after, then a quick contract due on the 13th, then I'm done.  Ugh.

Anyway, on to the important stuff.  My workouts lately just have not been good.  My knee has been sore all week (no pain, just sore), and I THINK it's because of the weather, but I'm not positive.  My bike today was supposed to be 2.5 hours (my new saddle/fit are great), but I had to cut it in half because I was dizzy and just tired.  I couldn't bring myself to finish it.  I've had to skip a bunch of swims because of some weird pool hours during exams and my insane exam schedule.  Excuses, right?  Tongue out

So the point is, I need your guys' help!  I'd love some advice on how to handle my current state of the blahs.  I'm seriously considering dropping the HIM, but I REALLY want to do it, I just don't know if I can do well at this rate with all my missed/subpar training.  I'm trying to make a pros/cons list to doing it.

Pros to doing the race - really really really want to, Ryan is doing it too, family coming to watch it, know I CAN do it, been looking forward to it for a long time, and if I don't do it now, probably won't be able to train for one for a couple years because of the BAR exam next summer!

Cons to doing the race - missed/bad training, not sure about my knee, don't want to disappoint myself, lack of race practice, won't be able to watch Ryan race, it would be my only tri of the season because of funds (if I did the sprint instead, I could use the saved money to do an Oly or something in June or August)

I'd love to hear everybody's thoughts on (a) what's wrong with me (besides not having sexy purple shorts like John), and (b) my pros/cons list!

OH, and congrats/good luck to all racers.  I wish I was out there with you all this weekend!
