It's baking HOT here in Vegas.  I left at 6am on Sunday for the 50 mile ride but was already hot in the morning. This was one of the first rides I think I've been seriously dehydrated. Didn't think too much of it until about the last 30 minutes and then I was just -done-.  Gonna plan better next time.

BJG85 - 2009-06-29 9:57 AM I've been out of town on business with horrible internet access. I was able to log in a couple times, but gave up trying to update my logs. I'll update them soon, maybe during lunch.
I got back the Saturday, and had a race on Sunday. It was so much fun! Except for the 12 year old that passed me on the run, and the 70 year old that finished 3 minutes faster than me. Now I have motivation for my next race!

Huh.  A 65 year old finished 12 minutes faster than me.  That is very motivating!

Glad you had fun!

In my HIM one of the few people I passed on the bike was a 65 year old dude.  I was STOKED I passed him.  Then a few minutes later, he passed me.     I did end up passing him and dropping him but geez, good on him for being out there.  That is major inspiration.  I hope I am still out there when I am in my 60s!

I think the same thing every race!

serendipity - 2009-06-29 10:55 AM I just registered for an Oly in September.  Because the sprint distance OWS wasn't quite enough to kill me.

Same lake.  Hopefully the water will be warmer by then.

Sweet!  Plenty of time to get some good OWS practice in

Aww.... But I like to taser people.

I was going to say that I actually needed you and your taser for the swim on Saturday, but then I got to thinking about tasers and water and decided that might not be the best plan....

Only a couple of more days, Tasers!

Don't be silly. I can always find someone to taser.

It's an everyday occasion.  You should now save it for special holidays or sumptin'.

I'm only doing one race in the month of July.  Who knows, I might actually get some training done that month.

LOL!  That's what us Iowans say when we are trying to argue that our summers are worse

I've been to Vegas in August.  Hot is hot, no matter how dry it is.

Well of course you can only do one in July.  The race directors are exhausted from running around putting on races for you in June and need to rest for a couple of weeks.

It makes it a LOT better. Other than staying hydrated, it's a lot easier for me to run in this climate instead of the midwest where it'd be 100/100 (100 and 100% humidity).
