I just skipped the mandatory planning meeting with a note in the email response that said "i will be out of town this weekend."

But I am glad I haven't seen him cause I wanna punch him bad!

He sounds like a real useless piece of crap.

He just got promoted.  YAY.  Anyone hiring?

Never punch a piece of crap. It just makes the shyte splatter like hitting the fan, and then everything really stinks worse.

You'll find your better place. Your MUCH better place.

I have a principle that you should never to work for a bad boss.  If you work really hard to compensate for their bad management, then you only perpetuate it.  If you slack off, then you sabotage your own career and job satisfaction.  It's best to slide to the side and get out.

Of course, I have only been modestly successful at my own philosophy.

The bigger the business the more this seems true. HR and upper management tend to want to pass the buck so people get promoted or transferred to a better spot rather than just dealing with the problem.

Or they subscribe to the a--hole school of management which states "Find the biggest a--hole and make him the manager."  Many companies subscribe to this management school.

it seems to me that it is getting harder and harder to fire someone on performance (thanks HR). I honestly believe that some people get promoted into positions they cannot do just so it is easier to get rid of them at that level than the level they are on.

I am SO glad I took today off of work... it's GORGEOUS out... sunny and 50 degrees. 

Slept in.
Bought new running kicks.
Went to grocery store.
Right now: making cranberry sauce, parmesan rolls, chex mix and apple crisp
In a few hours: 7 mile tempo run

Perfect.

The food sounds great; darn it now I am in need of many things but food is on the top of the list.

That sounds good but I personally havn't seen them fired after they got moved or promoted.

the thing about my boss is the people above him, that promote him, don't and have never worked for him.  he's good at every aspect of his job except the whole being other people's boss part.  so they just see a good project manager, willing to travel all the time, decent business acumen, great engineer and think...YES!  PROMOTE!  meanwhile, they don't realize he's just a terrible boss and should not EVER manage people.

Nope.  I am in the red on vacation days already this year and have to take off the week after Christmas.
