Nook evidently doesn't want me to have any friends. I have been trying. First it didn't like my cookies (and I make FINE cookies, I'll have you know). Then it had system errors. Hmph!

Dee! Hi!

The Girl ran in her race today. She made it about halfway through the 5k, and stopped because she was having pain in BOTH lower legs. The one we know has the stress fracture is sore, but she says the other one is more sore, right on the fibula about an inch and a half above the ankle bone (lateral malleolus, to be technical). Ugh. Her primary care doc said to wait it out until Sunday and see how she's feeling then. *sigh*

I'm off to do some research on treadmills. Wish me luck.

Raced anyways yesterday. Came in at 2:00:42 and was really hurting on the line. Woke up and took Tylenol and Advil and now I'm waiting for them to kick in

So sorry you are not feeling well.  Amazing that you were able to race anyway and beat anytime that I would get healthy.  Rest up and feel better.

Glad to hear that he is enjoying his football experience on the field.  Locker room jerks will be around for life, unfortunately.

Last week was not a great week for me.  Well, I guess it was a better week for me than for my friend.  A neighbor & friend died from a massive heart attack on wednesday.  He was only 3 years older than me, ran all the time, and was in great shape.  In fact, he was running when he had the heart attack.

I have 80+ books on my Nook and only a handful of them are available for the Lend Me option anyway. Looks like it's a publishers decision whether that can be available and most of them don't like it. I think the bulk of the books I have available to lend are books I got for my son.

That's what happened with a friend of mine in the spring. He's 51, not overweight, runs, hikes, does SAR, on the move all the time, he was just standing around and had a heart attack. He was VERY lucky, he had what they call "the widow maker" 95% mortality rate. You never know.

I still think the price of ebooks is ridiculous. I read an article not too long ago where a publishing company was trying to justify charging the same for printed and ebooks. They said they still had all the setup costs, blah blah blah with the ebooks. I'm sorry, but you already have the book in electronic format. It really doesn't take that much to make it ready for a ebook, and you don't have to use cover materials, ink, paper, whatever they use for binding the book. It's all a bunch of nonsense.

I'm frustrated now that I book in a series I'm reading came out Oct 2. I was finished reading it Oct 3. The next book in the series won't be out until next October. This isn't 1950. The book doesn't have to be typed on a typewriter, then mailed to the editor/publisher, then retyped. Everything is electronic, why is it taking a year to get the next book?
