The fact that the "quote" function of the forums here shows that the people have no idea what the hell valid html is.

-Jot

How does the quote function p!ss you off any more than the font/color/image etc. functions that come in the editor?  I personally prefer to put in the tags for most things myself, but this is supposed to be a user-friendly forum application, and I feel it accomplishes that goal nicely.  I've been out of html for a good 4 years now, and didn't know there WAS a tag for a quote like the one used on this site...but reaaaallly, who cares?

This is a "Beginner Triathlete" site, not a "Beginner html" site.

That's good, because the HTML code would have to come up a notch to be considered "beginner".

Yes, well you know everything.  You've swam uphill, gotten speeding tickets on bikes going 62 mph and who knows what else?  The fact that you have to suffer through everyone else's ignorance of html makes me wonder how you can deal with this site  Tongue out

Ok, this is "Things that (blank) me off" so that's why.

Seriously, it's because when you hit the quote button you're getting
html generated by the people who run the site. A web site should
have a concept of what the actual html standards are, imo. This
isn't users screwing it up, it's the site designers screwing it up for
them.

Oh, and remember the threads a month or so ago where the html
gets so whacked out that some browsers don't parse it?

And it's pretty basic stuff. The trailing / and having closing html
for elements that don't need to close, irritate me.

Well then I think you should write Marmadaddy and tell him he doesn't have a clue what valid html is, and then show him how it's done Jot.

He seems to take great pride in this site, and I think he would appreciate any suggestions you could give as to how to improve it!

Know everything? Hahaha...hardly!!

If you've ever swum in a river, you've swum uphill too. (And I think swimming in BJC when they were letting water or whatever out a few weeks ago would qualify as swimming uphill too, with the waves that we had.)

Someone having a bad day?

But 50 meters uphill?!  Sorry, but I'm skeptical.  I can promise you I have and will never be able to swim 50 meters uphill, nor have I seen anyone do it.

62 mph speeding ticket?  I'm thinking any any road in which a person could control a bike going 62 mph would have a speed limit close or the same as that speed.  I just don't see how a person on a road bike could take curves in which cars were limited to 45-55mph.  I'd still like to see that ticket.

Sorry if I'm being all in-your-face jumpy here.  I'll move on now.  This rant just hit me as an "I know so much more than other people"  rant and struck a nerve.

My bad.

My bad.

Which rants aren't? That's why they're rants.

Moving on. If I want to get into a flame war, it's what I have work for.

Heh. No problems.

With the swimming, it may not have been 50m, that may be age related hyperbole. I'd have to remember the triathlon and look at the profile, it was 750 up the river and then 750 back down, in Colorado.

The ticket speed is legit. It's towards the base of Monument pass, just outside of Gunnison (Colorado). As you come down the Gunnison side, towards the end of the pass it runs out for quite a ways straight, and if you just tuck and bomb it, you can get some good speed going. I'd love to find the ticket, if I remember right it should be in stuff thats in storage in my parents house. The curves/upper parts we weren't taking at any more than 35-45ish.

What torks me off:  SwimOutlet's e-mail touting hundreds of swimsuits on clearance, then as you try to muddle through their very slow website in which you have to pick a suit and then a color before you can see sizes available, you find EVERY clearance swimsuit is size 20 or 22 (which is equivalent to a Girl's size 6!). ARGHHH!

Why can't there be a Bonktown for swimming gear? At Bonktown you see sizes and colors up front and can make a decision in seconds...

You'll be shocked to know that when I shared this little tidbit with my wife tonight, she insisted on washing the sheets.

What? No call for pictures or it didn't happen?

What ticked me off today:

Telemarketers who call my CELLPHONE and don't block their number so I can't tell they are a telemarketer and make me nswer the phone! Even worse - when it's a recorded call and I can't hang up on a person! Are the cellphone companies selling our cellphone numbers now? I got TWO telemarketer calls on my cellphone today. Don't they know I have to pay dearly for those minutes since AT&T's plan for the iPhone SUCKS?

What makes me happy - having this thread on BT so I can rant!

Another one -- (it's my day to rant, I guess)

Big, unfenced dogs on the IMAZ bike route -- wearing collars and obviously belonging to a house that HAS A FENCE! (It's not a good fence, but it's a fence, yet these dogs apparently chased some BT bikers a couple weeks ago, and tried to cross Alma School to get to me today).  Now I'm going to be nervous every time I bike the IMAZ route!

Every time I've rode the IMAZ course in the early morning I've been chased by those GD dogs. I'm thinking about taking some pepper spray with me next time
