Hey! WELLLLLL . . . my knee is hurting, but my eating is better (the latter half of the week anyway . . . ). I haven't weighed myself, BUT I do feel better in my skin. You know? I can tell that I've been working out.

How are you doing pigpen?

I saw your Oktoberfest 'thing' went well.  Our city had an Oktoberfest but I didn't go.  Went hiking along the Potomac on Saturday.

The sky looked dismally grey this morning but the forecast for the week is actually lots of sun.

I'm having a hungry day today but got my lunch packed with snacks and such so even if I go crazy, I will still be on plan.

Run is planned tonight and I think I may do a little extra than my training plan calls for.  I see the coach on Wednesday and I'll ask her then about what to do if I want to do more than the plan calls for doing.

Jean, why is your knee hurting? I may have missed something.  I also preach glucosamine so if you don't take it, I recommend it although I have osteoarthritis so I need to take it.

I definitely will take it. I have it  . . . but am not good at taking it consistently. AT ALL. It stinks. I want to cry because I feel like I am going to have to quit this triathlon thing--but I refuse!!!!!

I don't know what's wrong with it. I've had so many different diagnoses . . . like chondromalcyia (or whatever), ITBS . . . basically, I walk wrong. I feel so sad

You may also need an anti-inflammatory and you may also need to ice your knee, if you have inflammation which could cause pain.  Seriously, take care of your knees!  I started seeing a physical therapist because my hips are out of whack which cause my knees to be out of whack.  So far, no pain yet from running which I think is a miracle.

I'm doing good! I had a GREAT time at the Oktoberfest, and got in some really good workouts this weekend. If you want a fun hill workout pull a 4 YO in a bike trailer... When I unhook that thing in the spring I am going to be FAST!

I JUST started taking glucosamine this weekend. I am hoping it helps. Does it help with tendinitis  or just the joint pain? I have a tendency to get both.

I went to the chiropractor today and my back is good to go now. I'll be swimming this afternoon and running tonight.

I think I'm going to try the glucosamine thing, too.  My knees have really been getting sore after workouts.

piggpen35 - 2008-10-06 11:08 AM How is everyone doing this week?

Besides being really hungry at the moment, I'm hoping to have a good week.  I do have a couple obstacles in my path though.

I visited my parents this past weekend & my diet suffered under the strain of my mom's good cooking.  On top of that, my wife will be out of town Tuesday through Friday.  That makes me Mr. Mom this week.  I'll get my Monday and Saturday bike rides in, but I'm concerned about my usual Wednesday evening biking.  I just can't see it happening.  I'm doing good on my biking & I'm afraid that missing a workout might cause me to lose my momentum.  I guess that I need an exercise bike in my house.

Down to 202.5 this week from 205 two weeks ago. I'm anxious to get under 200 lbs.

(goal by 1/1/09 is 189, which is a weight I've never been able to hit.)

Good work guys... I figured I had that drastic drop the first weeks weeks because of fluid loss.  I am down to 241.9 from 244.  But I implemented my strength training so I may be a little swollen or holding some fluid.  Still feeling a little drained though.

Also starting my swim training this week, that puts me training pretty much 7 days a week.  strength and swim 3 days, bike 2 days and run 2 days.

 Congrats to all the meltoffs!

 Todd

I am having the same issue... I am "stuck" at 242 right now. I lift on Saturday and Tuesday. It it takes 3-4 days for me to lose the weight I gain post weight room. I am sure it is minor swelling and fluid retention because people are commenting that my face looks thinner and my close are still looser. I think in a few weeks I 'll be in the mid 230's. The weight training threw my body for a loop thoug! WOW!

pigpen - I posted on your blog but I'm always up after a weight workout.   Beyond that, did you know that our fat cells are stubborn?  No, really... They tend to empty out the fat and fill up with water before they decide they truly can be empty.  So you can easily lose fat, look slimmer but stay the same weight until your fat cells 'whoosh' out the water.  Also, your muscles are holding onto water as well after a weight workout which is why you can weigh more after a good weight workout.

Lianil (sp?)-- That is VERY encouraging to me--thanks! If it's true (I believe you), it helps explain A LOT.

What's wrong with me knee? I am not sure. I have a few ideas . . . I think I am going to go to a sports injury specialist up in the big city! Woohoo. In STL. Any recommendations?

I don't really trust drs in my town on serious stuff. I 've definitely been botched during surgery (I've had 5 for various reasons).

DRUMROLL!!!! I lost 2 pounds this week! I still don't know what exactly I weigh or what kind of net loss this is because I switched scales in a move and can't find the old one. However, I lost two pounds! So I guess I Just need to keep doing what I'm doing.

How did you guys do?

Howdy all!  I dropped to 209.5 this week. Down from 215 last Wednesday.  3 - 4 lbs of that was water weight.  I'm planning to drop to 206 by next Wednesday.  After that I'll be losing 2 lbs a week pretty regularly.

Tim

Thanks!

Great job everybody on the loses!

Two weeks ago: 244

This week's weight: 239

I was worried that I wasn't going to get to my goal, but over the last few days the numbers have gone down. That is down 11 lbs in 4 weeks, not that great, but if I can keep up these losses, I will be happy!

Two week goal (October 22): 234

Congrats everyone on the loses!

My weight has held steady all week long.  My husband told me last night though that my body is disappearing!  That is good to hear, it needs a bit of disappearing.

My goal for next weigh in is 222.0

I'm at 235.5 today - Up 1 pound in the past two weeks.  I started a weight training program last week so hopefully my weight gain is somehow related to it.

I was at 229 two weeks ago and had a goal of 226.  I weighed in this morning at 226.5 lbs. missing the mark by half a pound.  I was expecting a lot worse after the gluttonous weekend I had a week ago, so I'm pleasantly surprised.

My goal in 2 weeks is 223 lbs.  I'm going to need to muster up all of the willpower that I can to avoid all of the horrible, yet delicious, food at the state fair this weekend *sigh*.

No good news here.  Up .5 from last week.  Totally my fault...lack of workouts (husband is out of town, so no one to watch kiddo) and I have been eating absolutely whatever sounds good at the moment.  Oh well...maybe next week.

I'm down 2 lbs from last week to 211.   My pants are looser and my ring is getting loose.
