Master 1209 New York, NY | Subject: RE: CHALLENGE Challenge - Determination Rudedog55 - 2009-01-06 10:06 AM If you ever need a training partner on the weekend, let me know i am only 45 mins from Manhattan and love to meet Bt'ers. Maybe we can get LazyMarathoner also (Kristin is another Manhattanite that just moved to Brooklyn) and make a group day, there are a bunch of BT'ers in the city!
If you're ever interested my running group has a run every Saturday morning at 9.30 (8.30 during the summer & early fall) in Central Park. It's a lot of fun! There's a pretty wide range of pace groups and we run 5, 6 or 7 miles....although rare is the day that I do more than 5 on a Saturday morning. The best part of the Saturday run, and my biggest motivator for going, is that we go to brunch afterwards. Do you do any of the NYRR races? Edited by KelliD 2009-01-07 10:03 AM |

(I did a wee ocean race last week just to get wet ...) It's so lovely and cheerful to see all the Little Miss avatars ... Nice job hitting the water! I also wanted to swim today but I ran out of time. The day care was closing at the YMCA so I had to pick up my kiddo after my run. Oh well, tomorrow. I got my 3 miles run for the team today. I was supposed to do a 40 minute tempo run but I didn't think that would be good for my hamstring. So I did 3 miles. Slowly. Hamstring yelled at me when I tried to run faster! |

Extreme Veteran 333 | Subject: RE: CHALLENGE Challenge - Determination Hey determinators: I need your positive thoughts. I've got to go in an hour to get an MRI on my pelvis to make sure I don't have a pelvic fracture (my hip has been hurting and it's either a bad strain or a fracture). I've got a marathon next week and a fracture is so no bueno! So, please good thoughts for me today! |

You'll feel really good about yourself for doing it. I'm just trying to get in the habit of going once a week--then when Ironman training starts next month, twice. It's not a weakness and it's such a short part of tri that I have problems justifying doing it at all, but yeah, it's going to be a problem to do 2.4 mi before 112 bike and 26.2 run if I don't actually get in a pool once in a while! |

Extreme Veteran 333 | Subject: RE: CHALLENGE Challenge - Determination Yeah! Good news! No pelvic fracture at this point! Probably like everyone else, I'm overtrained and my running is doing more harm than good. I'm clear to run Houston Marathon next weekend SLOWLY if I don't run this week or next and let some of the strain heal. If it hurts during the marathon, I stop, and I do not go for any PR at all. After that, I've got to lay off for a little bit and skip the marathon I signed up for in February. And probably March, and focus on biking and swimming and strength training. Thanks so much for the good thoughts and well wishes. It's a huge relief and also a little bit of a reality check that I can't do everything and never take a break. That's a hard pill to swallow, but it's worth it! So....here's to swimming and biking alot for a while! |

I hear ya on the swimming thing...I soooooo need to hit the water but I keep praying that the swimming fairy will drop a swim coach on my front porch to get me there but for some reason that hasn't happend yet. It's been over a month for me and I wasn't all that great to begin with so I'll probably be starting from scratch again ~ I really wish I could find a coach but if I keep waiting then I'll find myself doggy paddling my way thru my first tri (in May)! |
