I think that I will sign up for my second sprint at Redondo Beach.

It is the day after my graduation from UCLA (It's Dr. Beam now....).

This way, my father can come watch and cheer me on while everybody else sets up for the party.

I can then feel good about eating whatever I want.

The race plays to my strength of swimming.

Running (my weakness) is also REALLY short.

Ok....I'm picking my running.  Will commit to run at least 3x this week, and I started logging my nutrition yesterday.  I do not eat enough.  On a positive note:  Monday's are usually my off days....craziest day of the week for me, but I was so stressed I took off to the gym and swam for a while and chilled out in the sauna.  Felt much better after.  Did first tri in April.  Next one on 5/17.  I've really slacked since the first on the training.  Gotta get back my motivation.

I tried to log my meals, but... to be honest I have no idea on how to calculate exactly my carbs/protein intake and everything else...!!! :-s

Should I read all the labels on the packages and weigh everything?...

I just started logging mine.  Its a little easier than I though it would be. I just did a search for what I ate, and most of it is dead on.  They even have the brand names.  Takes a little time, but I wrote down what I ate then logged it in when I had the chance.  It really is an eye opener.

I will start meals after this week.
Tough week at work, AND the bacon burrito that I had this morning had nothing to do with my decision.

I found this website looking for ideas for meals.  You can search for foods and they give the nutritional value for each.  There is a recipe maker on it, but I have not figured it out yet.  Looks like this could be helpful and easy to look at the information.

OK, I suck and am getting into the challenge late...but my goal (starting today) is to only take one rest day in a row...and also to get a plan set up for my fall Oly. That ought to do for this week. Of course, I started the week by taking 2 rest days. Ah well.

Well my plans have changed.  I'm sick.  I spent most of yesterday in the washroom or in bed.  Not cool.  I guess it's an ok week for this to be happening as the weather is sucky.

how is everyone doing with their challenge?

I had my best run of the year this morning.
I downloaded military cadences for my iPod (recommended for another thread) it really helped me keep pace when I started dogging it.
I have not had a good run since my MIT Crew days. (That was 18 years and 50 lbs ago).

I think I will also sign up for Redondo. It is the day after my graduation from UCLA.

Great job everyone coming up with mini goals for this week. I think if we focus on one thing a week and really hit it, we'll find we hit our ultimate goals faster.

Whoo whoo! Check one goal off my list. I finally upgraded my membership with BT and imported a couple training plans...a maintenance program to hold me until July and then an Oly program to follow until my race. After that, I'll throw in a half-mary program to get me to that race. WHOO WHOO!

There, I said it. In the famous words of Jean-Luc Picard.... Make it so.

My plan to get outside on the bike has been dashed by a surprise thunderstorm.  I will get on the trainer for as long as I can.  Try for an hour, but I get awfully bored.

Had a great Tempo Run yester day with an easy 2 miles, 3 miles at 7:44, 7:31 and 7:29 then an easy 1 mile.  9 more days until the 25k and I get to go to Chicago this weekend with the family and run my last 10 miles before the race up the lakeshore.

Great job everyone on hitting the goals.

Great job!

I'm finally getting over my cold/flu and today the kids and I managed to do lawn work instead (gardening, washing and waxing the car, and playing lawn darts).  I wanted to get out for a bike ride (easy one) but it seems that it will be raining this afternoon.  Who knows!

I have to agree with the Sparkpeople.com nutrition page. The amount of foods and nutritional information available is considerable. Also the tracking graphs etc are quite good. Looking at the nutrition pie charts make you realize how significantly a poor food choice can throw off your diet.

If we are doing mini goals next week mine is going to be to work the crap out of Catch up Drill while swimming. Right now i suck at it so bad that i give up and do something else. So far giving up is not helping me get better.

Just finished my first tri.....ended up finishing 11th out of 350 in 1:06:22 it was a sprint....I didn't truly push myself mainly because I didn't know what was coming the next corner seeing as this was my first one...but next time I hopefully won't be such a noob and waste all my time in transitions...

and tomorrow officially starts my HIM training
