todays weight was 148 and BF% was 30.  3lbs down, 1% up. im not going to get to frustrated yet bc i like the progress im seeing in the mirror and my work pants were a little looser

Keep up the good work!  Don't be frustrated, 3 lbs down is great.  If you are taking your BF% on a scale, I wouldn't let the 1% bother you, it can fluctuate with your hydration level.  I'd pay much more attention to your loose pants ;op

here me pic.  i'll try and post some BF numbers on the excel sheet.  my chicken gyro dinner last night is not a good start.

currently 175, want to get to 168....kelly, dont forget the confidentiality agreement we have...

what calipers should I buy...any suggestions?

My lips are sealed, Mike, although, I'm not sure you have much more to lose!!  Do you know you can get bf measured at the gym for free (with calipers)?

at the YMCA?  who do you see for that?

Just ask at the front desk, or ask one of the fitness room workers...most them are trained in how to do it.

I hope I can still join - this sounds like a good forum for me... My friend just laugh at me when I say I need to lose a few pounds - they just don't understand!!  I have been running, sometimes committed, sometimes not - for about 8 years, and completed my first Tri on 6/27.  It was GREAT!

Here are my stats:

5'4"
127lb
BF - 27%

I would really get to 120 sometime soon... It is where I feel my best - the funny thing is - I have been 116 - 130 and my BF always stays at 27 or right around there - very odd to me!

Trust me, I understand. I went to an 80th birthday party for my Italian side of the family, and 2 people said that I was "too skinny". I would beg to differ!

My progress has a dent in it after that dinner. All you can eat fried calamari, pasta, ravioli, salads, chicken marsala, chicken Parmesan, and profiteroles will do this.

Ya, I've gotten that as well.  People say "Are you losing too much weight"  or "You look sick" one old woman said to me.  I just laugh and shrug it off.  Usually individuals who say those things are trying to project some kind of sickness onto you to make themselves feel better about their poor health/appearance.

Just take it with a grain of salt and continue your progress toward your goal.  )

How did everyone do on nutrition and training this weekend?  I got 6:15 hours on the bike, about an hour swim, some hiking and strength training thrown in.  After my ride yesterday I did not refuel properly and wound up pigging out for dinner last night, grrr.  Today is a new day!

I did okay...this is kind of a wierd week for me because I have my first HIM this Sunday...not really sure how to deal with the race coming and the challenge.  I'm thinking I just won't worry about the getting ripped until next week.

went good.  has 2 hour bike sat and had a run race sunday, so nutrition after race  kinda stuck due to typical post race grub.  although I passed on the dorritos (which looked really good) and only had 1 beer, (which tasted really really good).

nutrition has been solid since.

realy want a tight nutrition week this week.  no grains unless i have a w/o

thanks for asking, it was a good week in general and a pretty good weekend.  Had a short run on Saturday and then a 4+ hour bike on Sunday.  I'm looking forward to another good week of training.

Weekends are my downfalls!

I did a 'long' swim on Friday, and a swim/bike block on Sat.

BUT - I helped out at a friend's wedding this weekend, so Friday night was the rehearsal dinner (fishbowl sangrias, fried seafood, icecream), Saturday was the wedding (amazing food, and the most delicious cupcakes I've ever had in my life!), and then on Sunday the groom's family took out all the people who helped out for mexican food!

lots of free, delicious, totally unhealthy food this weekend...but I am back on track today - and even passed up the free doughnuts at my apt this morning! (our community does it every week - it's so hard to say no!)

Nice work to all! Does everyone keeps a training and nutrition diary in your log?

I did ok, I had a sprint tri on Sunday, but we stayed at my wife's grandmothers house for Saturday and Sunday.  So I may have allowed her to feed me some items not normally on my diet plan.

I have not been keeping track of nutrition on BT.  I used to, I guess today i should start again.

I think I did OK.  I got in a bike ride (nowhere near 6 hours though) on Saturday and a run on Sunday and felt like I didn't overdo on the food.  I did go to two parties, but feel like I behaved myself.  Both nights I had some of the desserts, but not much more than bites.  Even still, it was probably more sugary things than I have had since the No Sugar Challenge started last December 21.

Except for those sugary desserts, I have been pretty much in "The Zone" steadily since last Monday.  I think I am finally beginning to notice a decrease in appetite.  We will see.

I did Crossfit this morning and then rode my bike to work.  I will not be able to ride my bike home because it will be about 100F by then and I am not that tough.

I ALWAYS log every aspect of my training.

As for nutrition, I try very hard to log everything I eat and try to do it accurately, which is tough.  I made a commitment to myself to log everything since I started doing The Zone faithfully beginning last Monday.  It was hit or miss before that.

I keep my nutrition on here, but some of mine are custom foods, so the fat/carbs/protein are not always correct.  But the number of calories is... (good or bad...)

I'm obsessed with logging my training on BT!  It the first thing I do after a worklout....before shower or eating!  I used to log nutrition on BT or log my food for the day.  Guess I should go back to that.

On Friday and saturday i work 4p-8a 3 weeks out of the month. So training usually doesnt happen at all, but my diet is pretty strict b/c if i dont bring it i dont eat it.

I always log my training, but nutrition just takes too long to log.

dont log nutrition, and never really have.

I do log my training.

training this weekend and htis week in general is WAY down, one short run.

trying to figure out what it wrong with my knee, and resting for the most part, trying to see if it will get better with rest, some light running, and nothing else before i pull the trigger and go in to see the Doc.
would rather not have to resort to that:-(

hopping its strained or tendonitis, and not what i am fearing and some sort of tear that would most likely end the season......... we'll see.

Hi - is it too late to join?  I am 32 yrs old - training for my first tri in October.  I am 5'3, 133 lbs and trying to lose the last of the baby weight from having twins last October.  I would like to lose 5 or so more pounds, but am much more interested in losing body fat.  What do I need to do?

i didint start this, but I dont think its too late.

i the last few punds all comes down to diet.  I could always cheat my diet when I had a lot of weight to lose.  now that I am at an ideal weight, its very difficult for me to lose weight.

In the end, it comes down to a tight, near perfect diet.  For me, thats lean proteins (chicken/fish), fruit, veggies, nuts oils.  Healthy grains before workouts and gels/sports drinks during w/os that exceed 1 hour.  for 2 hour w/os, I take in grains after as well.

really, no need for grains if you're not working out.  this will allow you to drop those last few pounds.

of coruse, nothing is scientific here, just what I've read and what my coach has told me and what has worked for her and her coach.....

not sure if that is what you meant by, "what do I need to do?"...

if you were wondering what you need to do to join group...not much, just post your stats and comment on your progress.  post a pic if you would like.   there is a google spread sheet within this thread that you can add your stats to and update as we move along.  i thinkt he link is ont he 4th or 5th page of thread.....
