axteraa - 2009-07-07 11:29 PM I've never watched a TTT before, is it common for there to be this many crashes?  If not, does this make the teams yet to come nervous or more confident as they know where the trouble spots are?

No not common - although there is usually one or two..

The teams coming later will be paying close attention to where the danger spots are....but probably also relying on their directors in the car to keep an eye out too...

No, this is different than most, unless it's wet.  Then you'll find people everywhere.

Teams not yet started have two advantages...first, they're the better (funded) teams and they will have scouted the course, plus they'll get the news from the course and adjust.

This seems to be a technical route. it'd make me nervous if I was told. But they should be warned, take this corner carefully.

thought it was interesting of what Lance had to say about the course this morning...

"Did a lap of the course with the boys. We're ready. What I thought was up/down/left/right is now up/down/left/WINDY! Important day..."

Those who have ridden the course today may be separated by those who have not...

Oh you spoiler. I was going to really lay into Cadel then. I did say to Cat that I wouldn't tease her during the Tour as Cadel did actually really, really try, during the Dauphine Libere, to shed Sastre & Valverde (from memory). I thought it was his double who was riding as it was so out of character.

I like Cadel...for ONE reason...

He is WHY more Australians have heard of this thing called the Tour De France...

Its WHY people are actually asking me to tell them about the race and how it works...

And WHY the race now gets coverage in the mainstream press....

Its nothing to do with him as a rider or person... its all about the effect of having him doing well in terms of improving the profile of cycling in Australia

Yeah, because McEwen certainly hasn't done anything to advance the sport in Aussie land.

They said it not ME!

Lol - he has!

Including shooting a bunch of stuff for us a few years ago...(and getting me my autograph too)

But... in terms of press coverage... people seem to get the *yellow jersey* and coming first more...

It is what it is... for some reason Cadel on GC is understood more by the general public....
