Veteran 379 NYC | Subject: RE: why drink beer?... Tequila, Ketel One, or Crown Royal don't go down so easy when you're that thirsty after a race, so I drink beer. Once I feel rehydrated and cooled down, I usually grill some ribs, make some homemade mac and cheese, and some margaritas from scratch. Rocks with kosher salt. Yum. |

You then put forth your own opinion that beer isn't healthy and it's a poor choice, but your not bashing anyone. Did I get that right? You may want to title your post what you are really saying, which is "people who drink beer after a race are stupid" as you seem to have an opinion about this you want to put forth. I love beer. I'll have a beer or two sitting by my pool on the weekends or whenever I feel like it. I like it, you don't. I'm sure there a lot of things you do that I wouldn't do, but so what. Why do you even care? You say it's a waste and has no value to you. Who cares? You are looking for people to justify something they do that you don't agree with. My sentiments as well... I tend not to have one right after a workout, but fresh of mowing the lawn, you betcha ya. Grill running in the evening with some chicken, salmon, buffalo, etc. dern skippy. Love a tasty beer or two. |

New user 403 | Subject: RE: why drink beer?... MMMMMMMMMM . . . . Beer good!!!! I guess I could personally argue that Tequila (agave nectur) is better, but that's me. I like it, it tastes good. I see people ingesting certain products that are marketed to help recovery, but to me, they taste like ________, and I'd rather consume the adult beverage. I'll take an extra 10 minute nap to gain the recovery time I need. I didn't read all the posts, but even my owner's manuel for my P2 says that riding it at excessive speeds or in racing conditions is hazerdous to my health and puts a person at risk of death. I guess if I worried about everything in life that might have slightly or large hazerdous affects on me, I wouldn't be doing much of anything. |

Being a beginner, I would suggest the discussion be about Shirley Temples first. |

Master 1853 syracuse | Subject: RE: why drink beer?... I cannot think of a single reason other than it tastes really freakin' good...... and honestly, I don't think 1-2 beers every so often is bad for you....... At mile 12 at LP, I saw some spectators enjoying some pops, and I wanted one SOOOO bad. At mile 23 I saw them and had no desire! But after the last finishers around 12:00, we went to Wise Guys, and at 1:00 AM I had 2 beers. And a cheesburger. Wtih Bacon. And onion rings. And French Fries. And I dipped my onion rings in ranch dressing. full on fat ranch dressing. best 2 beers I've ever had. I don't imagine it was good for me, but man it felt really good!! |
